Today the 19th Annual Sculpture By The Sea was launched in Bondi by Deputy Premier Troy Grant. Along with the launch, he announced Jörg Plickat from Germany as the recipient of the $60,000 Macquarie Group Sculpture Prize for his sculpture Divided Planet.

While the weather wasn’t as welcoming as previous years, the rain did hold off long enough to formally open the exhibition, and the stormy clouds actually provided a beautiful backdrop for much of the artwork.

The sculptures are so wide and varied, that there is something for everyone. I highly recommend getting along mid-week (if possible) as the crowds will be slightly smaller.

The event is free and runs from the 22nd of October till the 8th of November 2015.

There are 118 artists exhibiting 107 sculptures.
