Surry Hill’s craft beer havens, the Keg & Brew and big sister venue the Dove & Olive, will be celebrating this year’s Craft Beer Rising with a one-off event, Brewnique, on Saturday 28 February.

Now in its second year, Craft Beer Rising is a national event for brewers, pubs and beer lovers to come together and raise a glass to locally brewed beer. The focus at the venues will be on uniquely flavoured, limited release drops with two special brews created just for the event by local brewery Yullis, that will join the pubs’ rotating selection of Australian craft beers and cider on tap.

As well as drinks, the pubs’ food menus will also be getting a beery twist for the day, using specialty beers as the key ingredient. Dishes at the Keg & Brew will include the Smoked pilsner salmon fillet with a warm potato salad; Beer and cola chipotle pork ribs with house made slaw, French fries and chimichurri; and Amber ale pork chop with brown rice, charred corn and amber ale gravy.

Up the road at the Dove & Olive, patrons can tuck into Beer butter mussels; Drunken chicken wings with gold ale blue cheese sauce; and Porter beef brisket and leek pie with creamy mash, minted peas and drunken white onion gravy. For non-meat eaters, there’s a special Pacific ale bean salad with a refreshing mix of vegetables, hazelnuts and beans topped with beer vinaigrette.

A selection of the usually highly guarded recipes will be available on the pubs’ websites and social media pages, along with beer and food matching tips from the team.

Those feeling lucky can enter the draw to win the ultimate brewing experience with Four Pines. The lucky winner and a friend will enjoy an exclusive experience, spending the day behind the scenes with a master brewer from Four Pines, seeing the pub’s latest collaboration beer being brewed and enjoying a beery lunch including a beer paddle each.

There are two prize packs up for grabs, one at each venue, to be drawn at 8pm on the day. To enter, simply fill out a form on the website or post an entry into the barrels stationed in each venue before Saturday 28 February.
