Looking for a quick work lunch that doesn’t involve burgers and fries? Looking for a upmarket business lunch that doesn’t take hours? Look no further than Middle Eastern-inspired bar and restaurant, Tayim’s Express Lunch!
Tayim combines modern and traditional Middle Eastern cuisine. Located within the historic Rocks area, Tayim’s stunning sandstone interiors blends the rich cultures of the Middle East and the heritage features of the building to create a unique dining experience. The mouthwatering menu designed by Head Chef Ran Kimelfeld (former Head Chef, Nour), showcases the region’s most flavoursome dishes; focusing on bold, exotic share plates cooked using traditional methods on the open grill.
The express lunch at Tayim starts with a choice of two mezze and then you have a choice of one of four main-courses along with a glass of wine for just $45 per person.
Recently Sydney Social 101 popped into Tayim to try out the express lunch. We started with a selection of meze including felafel (moist on the inside and crispy on the outside), hummus, moroccan tomatoes, labneh, pickles and amazing flat bread (We had to order more of the bread because it was that good!).
For our mains we opted to share because everything looked so appetising and we couldn’t decide what to eat. We had the grilled rainbow trout served with preserved lemon chermoula, chermoula cream and hazelnut dukkah. The melt in your mouth fish was beautifully cooked and the spices perfectly complimented the fish without overpowering it. We also shared the incredible crispy cauliflower with almond tarator, roast almonds, green raisins, pomegranate and chilli. Now this is how you cook a vegetable! The cauliflower was cooked to perfection and the delicious combination of the almonds, rasins, pomegranate and chilli made the dish super exciting for the taste buds. We also enjoyed a glass of the Pinot gris each from the extensive wine list to sip while we filled our bellies and discuss all things business!
The lunch was served quickly (but not too quickly) ensuring that we had ample time to eat (and take pictures of our food) and that we were back in the office promptly.
So, if you looking for a restaurant to impress your business associates or grab a quick and delicious meal with you colleagues then look no further than Tayim in The Rocks!
