A local hotspot, which has for many years served in-house roasted coffee and Italian inspired cafe fare, has re-opened as Cicco Zetland, a cafe by day and Trattoria & Pizzeria by night.
Although the offering maybe new, the heart and soul of the venue is not. Having been open since 2014 and formerly named Cafe Vité, the family owned and operated cafe and roastery which was established by Tony Pacitto, has undergone a refresh and transformation. The reigns have now been handed over to son, Alex who has been the face behind the custom La Marzocco coffee machine for many years. With strong foundations in play, Alex aims to follow in his Father’s footsteps however as Cicco Zetland, which remains a cafe by day and now operating as a Trattoria & Pizzeria by night.
From the moment you site the vine draped exterior intertwined with ambient fairy lights by night, you know you are in the right place. The open-plan and alfresco dining area has a modern industrial feel with exposed brick, bare concrete panels and black steel accents featuring a custom marble bar and open plan kitchen showcasing the all new pizza oven and pre-existing Probat 12kg coffee roasting machine whose aromas, when in play are enough to send you weak at the knees.
At Cicco, they strive to make everything ‘fatta in casa’, home made – from roasting their coffee on site (Cicco Coffee) to the freshly made egg pasta and pizza alla romana and panino. Using only fresh, local ingredients the menu is a blend of authentic Italian cuisine however showcasing the best Australian produce.
Shared starters include the pillow soft fried bread pockets known as Gnocco Fritto (12) with added additions of marinated verdue, pickles, salumi and formaggi as well as an eye fillet tartare (19) and seafood crudite (18).
Of course, there is a Cacio e Pepe however made with orecchiette and guanicale (24) and a linguine marinara (28) which truly showcases the simplicity of freshly hand made pasta. As well as a selection of mains including the Veal Milanese with rocket and lemon (30) and accompanying sides there is the must try roman style pizza which is the perfect canvas to the beautiful fresh produce and all your favourite toppings.
In addition to the in-house roasted coffee which features seasonal blends for filter and espresso single origins, Cicco now serves a boutique selection of Italian and natural wines and aperitivi. Think your go-to classics perfectly paired with Italian cuisine including the all important Negroni.
