Criniti’s has become somewhat of an institution in Sydney. Frank Criniti opened the first restaurant in 2003 in Parramatta but today there are a total of five restaurants spread across Sydney, and one in Melbourne which opened earlier this year. Back then, Frank’s menu was inspired by childhood memories of simmering garlic, olive oil and fresh tomatoes from the garden. Today, the food remains as authentic as day one, and was voted Best Italian Restaurant in Sydney in last year’s ‘I Love Food Awards’.

Of the six restaurants, the Darling Harbour venue is the largest. Located on the second floor of Harbourside Shopping Centre, the restaurant offers indoor and outdoor seating with views of the city skyline and Harbour promenade. The menu features large portions of steaks, pizzas (including one that’s a metre long!), pastas, burgers, and seafood. Highlights include porcini risotto infused with truffle oil and the over-the-top antipasto sampler board starter which overflowed with meatballs, zucchini flowers and calamari fritti.

There’s a kids menu for family dining, and a drinks menus for toasting to special occasions — Criniti’s at Darling Harbour really does cater to any Italian dining you’re looking for on any day of the week. Word of warning: be prepared for a big meal.
