Classic pasta’s with an innovative twist, incredible spritz and a fun yet relaxed atmosphere; Mark + Vinny’s is the must-try, newly opened Italian spaghetti and spritz bar in Surry Hills. Serving up old-school pasta classics alongside modern variations paired with a creative and extensive compilation of spritzers, this neighbourhood eatery prides itself on offering an impressive range of vegetarian and vegan options (Never fear meat eaters! There is meat on the menu too!)

Culinary co-conspirators Mark Filippelli and Vince Pizzinga have come together with head chef Adrian Jankuloski – ex-Icebergs Dining Room & Bar, North Bondi Italian and The Dolphin – to create this pasta lover’s paradise! Mark is the owner and operator of multi-award winning and instafamous plant-based restaurant Matcha Mylkbar, where the world’s first trademarked completely vegan egg was invented, and which has the same protein and amino acid benefit as a traditional egg. Pizzinga, on the other hand, is better known for arranging notes on a score than pappardelle on a plate. In 2002 he co-penned the number one hit song “Innocent Eyes” with one of his best-mates and long-time collaborator Delta Goodrem.

The food menu evokes the comfort of home cooking and encourages sharing amongst family and friends. Traditional pasta dishes use fresh pasta made either in-house or exclusively by award winning pasta maker Joe Cassaniti of Peppes Pasta. Classic dishes include cacio e pepe spaghetti with pecorino romano (olive oil, butter, black pepper, and grated Pecorino Romano cheese), while modern variations include vegan carbonara made with vegan egg yolk and cured mushroom; a blue algae fettuccine with blue swimmer crab (not only does it look amazing, it tastes amazing too!) and zucchini linguini with chickpea ragu, baby artochoke, avacado velute.

The drinks menu includes around 50 spritz options, with one named after Vince’s close friend called The Delta Spritz, as well as an extensive selection of cocktails, wine and beer.

The interior of the restaurant was designed by Vince’s architect sister Mari who brought Mark and Vince’s vision of creating a warm, relaxed and inviting dining room to life.

So, for a night of warm Italian hospitality with a fun and fresh twist, head straight to Mark + Vinny’s spaghetti and spritz bar and be sure to bring an empty stomach and an open mind!
