The London Hotel, Paddington is the definition of the quintessential neighbourhood pub. The London has been offering patrons a cosy and vibrant destination to socialise, savour a great bite to eat, unwind and enjoy the friendly atmosphere since it opened in 1875. The London Hotel maintains it’s heritage as a great sporting venue, regularly screening AFL and Rugby Union. It also boasts a fantastic, plant-filled courtyard with retractable awning for year-round enjoyment and comfort.
Featuring an extensive selection of classic pub style dishes, delicious pizzas, hearty salads and a dedicated kid’s menu, The London Hotel has something for all taste buds. From British style Bangers ‘n’ Mash to Prawn and Chorizo pizza there is no shortage of tempting dishes to devour or share with friends.
Sydney Social 101 recently visited The London Hotel to try out the much talked about menu (both food and drink of course!). On arrival we were not only greeted by their super friendly and attentive staff who offer good old-fashioned hospitality but we were also welcomed by puppies (yes! Puppies) as The London Hotel is a puppy friendly pub. Awesome!
We took a seat in the cosy courtyard and started the night with a round of beers to get ourselves into the pub vibe. As we reclined into the comfy chairs we struggled to select what we would order as everything looked that good! After much deliberation, we decided to order and by order I mean, we definitely over ordered. We just couldn’t resist!
We started with the staff favourite Fish tacos which combines crispy barramundi, chipotle mayo and slaw. The barramundi was tender, the mayo was the perfect amount of spicy and the slaw gave it that nice bit of crunch. We then moved onto the delicious vege burger. Served with very moreish potato fries, the burger was filled with a grilled field mushroom, haloumi, eggplant relish, tomato, avo and topped with aioli. We shared the burger along with the spinach, mushroom, pumpkin, goats cheese and onion pizza. The pizza had a perfectly crispy base and the delicious toppings were plentiful.
To balance the meal, we also had one of The London’s hearty salads. To add a bit of crisp and freshness we ordered the beetroot, snow pea shoots, pear, goats cheese and walnut salad. This delicious and nutritious salad is definitely a salad that you CAN make friends with. Although we were completely full by this stage trying the dessert was a must! Dessert was banoffee pie featuring a crunchy biscuit base, layers of decadent dulce de leche, fresh banana, and a tower of cream. Not only did it look fantastic, it tasted fantastic too; not too sweet, not too rich but just right.
With fantastic food, great service, a great variety of delicious beverages and complimentary puppy pats, it’s no wonder The London Hotel is so popular with the locals and is a must visit for non-locals!
