They throw wild PTA house parties, they drive fast cars, they go wild in supermarkets and they do everything they can to stand up for their kids, they are Bad Moms! Starring Mila Kunis, Kristen Bell, Kathryn Hahn, Annie Mumolo, Jay Hernandez, Jada Pinkett Smith and Christina Applegate, Bad Moms follows the life of Amy Mitchell (Mila Kunis) who is married with two kids and tries her best to multi-task her way to be a perfect mother but feels over-worked and over-committed. She works as a sales rep for an ultra-hip coffee company, makes her kids healthy, packed lunches, does their homework, goes to all of their extracurricular activities, and is active in her school’s PTA (P and C in Oz), run by the seemingly perfect, villain Gwendolyn (Christina Applegate) and her sidekicks, Stacy (Jada Pinkett Smith) and Vicky (Annie Mumolo). When Amy catches her husband cheating with a dairy farmer on the internet, Amy throws him out and tries to keep things business as usual!
After a hugely stressful day which sees Amy almost crash her car, spill spaghetti and coffee in her face and sees her get knocked over by a kid in her daughters soccer team, Amy realised she has had enough and publicly quits the PTA in response to Gwendolyn’s demands that she be the sugar/ preservative/ fun inspector/ preventer at the bake sale. At a nearby bar, Amy meets Carla (Kathryn Hahn), a laid back, oversexed single mum, and Kiki (Kristen Bell) a stay-at-home mother of four. The trio of overworked and under-appreciated mums embark on a mission to ditch their conventional responsibilities for a jolt of long overdue freedom, fun, and comedic self-indulgence, which sees them having all-night benders, getting their kids lunch from Arby’s, and taking days off work.
But things don’t run as smoothly for the trio as they hope. Their actions draw the attention of Gwendolyn and her sidekicks, who use their PTA authority to get Amy’s daughter removed from the soccer team as punishment. Amy becomes furious about this and in an effort to stand up for her daughter decides to run for PTA president in opposition to Gwendolyn.
After a PTA election party standoff which sees Amy out party Gwendolyn, Gwendolyn responds by planting drugs in Amy’s daughter’s locker. From there it is ‘game on’ for Amy and Gwendolyn. Their final battle for victory is fought at the PTA election night where Amy gives an inspiring speech about how all mums are overworked, and that they need to take time off, do fewer and less stressful events, and most importantly, allow themselves to make mistakes. Amy wins by a landslide, and eventually winds up comforting and befriending a devastated Gwendolyn.
Bad Mom’s is hilarious, has a great cast and appeals to mothers and non–mothers alike. It will have you laughing out loud and wanting to wag work, drive fast cars and go absolutely wild the next time you go to the supermarket!
