If you needed proof that NFL culture has well and truly landed in Australia, Culture Kings Melbourne has been making a pretty convincing case this week.
First up: a VIP takeover with Culture Kings x NFL x Crocs β turning the Melbourne store into something that felt considerably closer to game day than a shopping trip.
Music pumping, NFL everywhere, Crocs in the mix and a guest list spanning sport, entertainment and culture. Hannah Orval, Godsway Williams, Kily Safari, 49ers DJ Ryan Dillard, Gogglebox favourites Adam Densten and Symon Lovett and Marc Peard from The Morning Shift were among those getting amongst it.
And then Culture Kings decided one NFL takeover apparently wasnβt enoughβ¦ π
Yesterday, San Francisco 49ers legends Anquan Boldin and Jeff Garcia rolled into the Melbourne store for a fan meet-and-greet β joined by the 49ers Gold Rush Cheerleaders and, naturally, Sourdough Sam.
And the fans SHOWED UP. β€οΈπ
Jerseys. Photos. 49ers faithful. Proper game-day energy. The kind of scenes that make you realise just how huge the NFL community has become on this side of the world.
But what I loved most about the whole thing? Culture Kings isn’t treating NFL fandom as simply another merch category.
Itβs creating somewhere for that culture to actually live.
You can grab the jersey, cap, Crocs or game-day fit β sure β but then you can walk through the same doors and suddenly find yourself meeting 49ers legends and celebrating alongside hundreds of other fans.
Melbourne might be a long way from Leviβs Stadiumβ¦
But this week? San Francisco felt considerably closer. ππ₯
