This Limited Edition Collab is Like Jay Z and Linkin Park. But With Dumplings

The Limited Edition Missy K x Watsons Bay collab is doing what all great partnerships do: taking something you already loved and flipping the context entirely.

Think: Run DMC x Adidas. Jay-Z x Linkin Park. Beyonce x Gaga. Except this version swaps streetwear and stadium tours for dumplings and harbour views.

On paper, Missy K and Watsons Bay Hotel occupy very different corners of Sydney dining.

The former has built its reputation on flavour-packed Pan-Asian comfort food and a fiercely loyal local following. The latter is synonymous with long summer afternoons, ferry rides, seafood platters and waterfront drinks.

Separately, they work. Together, they’re creating something neither would have delivered on their own.

For winter, Watsons Bay’s Sunset Room has traded sunshine-and-spritz energy for something a little moodier. The space has been transformed into a warm, dimly lit dining room where steaming dumplings replace frozen cocktails as the headline act, and harbour views become the backdrop rather than the main event.

It’s less beach club. More dinner party. And Missy K is very much the headliner.

Chef Kim Udomdj brings more than three decades of experience and the kind of cooking that feels purpose-built for Sydney’s colder months. And the menu reads like a greatest-hits album of winter cravings.

Handmade dumplings lead the charge, supported by a cast of supporting acts including prawn laksa, soft shell crab bao, Peking duck pancakes, fried rice and barramundi swimming in Thai green curry sauce.

Guests can order a la carte or opt for the $55 banquet menu, which feels a little like buying the deluxe edition and getting all the best tracks in one sitting.

According to Laundy Hotels Group Executive Chef Tanoy Biswas, comfort sits at the heart of the concept.

“The inspiration behind Missy K comes from comfort food – dumplings, curry and laksa with modern flavours,” he says. “We wanted to use Asian inspiration with local produce to create dishes that tell a story people remember.”

That balance is what makes the partnership click.

Missy K supplies the flavour. Watsons Bay supplies the setting. Winter supplies the excuse.

Then Saturdays introduce another remix. The Missy K Bottomless Brunch takes the same formula and stretches it across 90 ($99) or 120 minutes ($119) of flowing drinks, shared plates and the kind of timeline blowout usually reserved for a Taylor Swift concert.

It’s the extended edition of the collaboration. Same hits. Bigger energy.

And much like the partnerships that inspired it, the magic isn’t in the individual parts. It’s in what happens when they come together.

Missy K x Watsons Bay might not have a platinum record to its name, but as far as winter collaborations go, it’s got all the makings of one.
