A Moment of Stillness in the City That Never Slows: SOAK Bathhouse Alexandria

By Lisa Hollinshead, Editor, Social101.com I’ll be honest, as a busy single mum, startup founder, and editor running between media events and school pickups, self-care often slips to the bottom of my to-do list. But stepping into the new SOAK Bathhouse in Alexandria this week was like hitting pause on life — in the most beautiful, grounding way. Tucked just 4 km from the Sydney CBD inside the sleek new $230 million Bourke & Bowden development, SOAK isn’t just a wellness destination, it’s a sanctuary. And I don’t use that word lightly. From the moment I walked through the doors, surrounded by calming timber tones, soft light, and the gentle hum of flowing water, I felt my shoulders drop and my breath deepen. It was an exhale I didn’t know I needed. At 700 square metres, it’s SOAK’s largest space yet, and it’s absolutely stunning. There’s a warmth to the design that balances luxury with approachability. The star attractions? A series of state-of-the-art magnesium mineral pools (hello, 34°C bliss), piping-hot spas (38°C), a seriously invigorating cold plunge (12.5°C – I dare you not to scream a little), and both a dry cedarwood sauna and an aromatic steam room.…
