There’s new kid on the block and he’s landed right in the heart of the city. We checked out Basement 33, a brand new underground venue with a New York spin. Formerly a Jazz club, this hot spot has been converted into a happening restaurant that serves delicious wood-fired pizza and American style diner food with a gourmet twist. Highlights include the Cheesy Fries and Capri-Chose-Her pizza…see what they did there? #clever. The fried chicken is seriously next level and gives Colonel Sanders a run for his money.

The bar staff are highly trained with a world-class resume and the cocktails are truly unique. The drinks menu has been carefully crafted by some of the best in the industry and includes fresh signature cocktails, a healthy wine list of local and imported gems as well as an epic shot selection like no other! A must try is the Mel-Ki, a fresh watermelon and kiwi cocktail – using freshly squeezed juice, this delightful creation is the perfect balance of sweet with a touch of sour. The Aneurysm Shot is in it’s own league with flavours of peach and butterscotch within its small but deadly body. You can ACTUALLY see a blood clot in this tiny shooter – it’s insane!

The vibe is super cool with unique artworks on the walls and old-school posters. It’s a breath of fresh air amongst the other corporate drinking holes and dingy hang-outs of the area. Friday’s are buzzing with a young and fun crowd and weeknights are low key, perfect for a date venue with a difference or post-work drinks.

One of our new favourites for good vibes, great food and a killer cocktail menu.
