There’s a very specific kind of Sydney brunch energy that kicks in once winter hits.
We collectively decide we still want to socialise… but ideally somewhere warm, vibey, cocktail-heavy and within walking distance of the beach.
Enter: Besa Bondi’s new weekend bottomless brunch.
And honestly? This one feels less “boozy brunch for the sake of it” and more like the kind of long lunch that accidentally turns into sunset drinks because nobody wants to leave.
The Spanish tapas bar from ESCA Hospitality Group has just launched a new weekend bottomless offering every Saturday and Sunday from 12pm–2pm, bringing together coastal-inspired share plates, flowing cocktails and the kind of warm European atmosphere Bondi does very well when it wants to.
If you haven’t been to Besa yet, the venue already feels transportive the second you walk in.
Inspired by Madrid’s late-night bar culture but filtered through Bondi’s coastal lens, it’s intimate, moody and social in a way that makes you want to stay for “one more drink” repeatedly.
The brunch itself runs for 90 minutes and starts from $110pp, including a curated lineup of Besa’s signature dishes alongside bottomless cocktails, wines and lagers.
And the menu genuinely sounds elite.
We’re talking:
- pan con tomate
- Olasagasti hand-filleted anchovies
- raw beef carpaccio with goat’s cheese
- confit potato and onion tortilla
- grilled chicken with squid ink fideua negra
- escalivada with sherry vinaigrette
So basically: the sort of menu where everyone suddenly becomes very passionate about sharing plates.
The cocktails are also clearly designed for Sydney’s current obsession with Euro-summer energy.
Highlights include:
- Besa’s Rosé Sangria with blackcurrant and mandarin
- La Identidad Spritz with apricot, mezcal and vermouth
And if your friendship group tends to escalate brunches quickly, there’s also a $140 upgraded package featuring martinis, margaritas and dessert.
Dangerous.
What I actually love about this concept though is that it feels genuinely social rather than performative.
It’s giving:
- lingering over multiple rounds of cocktails
- passing plates around the table
- people cancelling their evening plans because brunch somehow became the whole day
- pretending you’re on holiday while sitting in Bondi in a coat
Which honestly might be exactly the mood Sydney needs this winter.
