Cronulla Just Got A Stunning New Bistro, Music Room And Late-Night Bar. Just Quietly, Meadow Might Be Worth The Drive Alone

There’s something happening in Cronulla lately.

And no, I don’t just mean the beach.

The suburb quietly keeps evolving into one of Sydney’s most interesting hospitality pockets, where venues feel considered, design-led and genuinely social rather than trying too hard to be “scene-y.”

The newest addition? Meadow.

And after reading through what Anyway Hospitality has created here, I already know this is going to become one of those venues people casually mention before suddenly realising they’ve stayed for six hours.

Opened by Adam and Kylie Micola, the team behind much-loved local favourite Bobbys, Meadow has taken over the former Papa J’s site and transformed it into a day-to-night music room, bar and European-inspired bistro that feels designed for lingering.

Honestly, that’s the word that kept standing out to me while reading about it.

Lingering.

Not rushing in for dinner and leaving.
Not hyper-rotational dining.
Not overly polished hospitality theatre.

Just a beautiful space where the energy evolves naturally from daytime dining into late-night cocktails, music and conversations that somehow stretch into midnight.

And I think Sydney needs more venues like that.

The space itself sounds genuinely stunning too.

Designed by Tom Mark Henry (the same studio behind Bobbys), Meadow leans into warm dusk tones, burnt orange banquettes, honey-toned stone, disco ball energy and ocean views, which honestly sounds like the perfect collision between European bistro and coastal Sydney cool.

There’s also a strong music focus woven throughout the venue rather than treated as an afterthought.

The music programming has been curated by renowned DJ and producer Mitchell Wick, with vinyl spinning throughout the day before transitioning into live jazz duos and late-night DJ sets as the evening progresses.

Which means Meadow feels less like a standard restaurant and more like the sort of venue where dinner slowly melts into drinks… and maybe another round.

The menu also sounds incredibly strong.

Group executive chef Pablo Tordesillas has created a European-inspired offering centred around refined share plates and approachable bistro-style mains.

Highlights include:

  • beef tartare toast with piparras
  • raw tuna with bergamot and crème fraîche
  • braised octopus provençal
  • globe artichokes with horseradish cream
  • baked rigatoni with vodka sauce
  • grilled Kidman premium sirloin au poivre with frites
  • banana tarte tatin with vanilla ice cream

And honestly? The cheeseburger with café de Paris butter alone sounds like something I’d accidentally think about for three days afterwards.

The drinks offering also feels refreshingly thoughtful rather than trend-chasing.

Curated by sommelier and winemaker Nick Rosa, the wine list heavily champions Australian producers farming sustainably and biodynamically, while still balancing European classics and cult labels.

There’s also a dedicated aperitivo hour running daily from 4pm–6pm with sharply priced cocktails including:

  • French 75
  • white negroni
  • Americano
  • Meadow Mary (their take on a Bloody Mary)

Basically: exactly the sort of venue Sydney millennials love right now.

Somewhere aesthetic without being pretentious.
Fun without feeling chaotic.
Music-led without becoming a nightclub.
And sophisticated enough for date night while still feeling relaxed enough for a spontaneous Sunday session.

Honestly, Meadow feels like one of those venues that will quickly become “the place everyone’s suddenly talking about.”

And judging by the concept, they probably will be for good reason.
