Sydney’s first organic tea bar, The Rabbit Hole, opens today in the inner-city suburb of Redfern, home to some of Sydney’s coolest bars, restaurants and galleries. The tea wonderland is redefining the dreary cuppa with left of centre brewing techniques and creative concoctions.

The Rabbit Hole Tea Bar

Already a successful wholesaler to some of Sydney’s best cafes and restaurants, The Rabbit Hole is renowned for their teas with texture and an array of flavours including shavings of coconut, chunks of real pineapple and raspberry and blends with herbs and spices. The Rabbit Hole Organic Tea Bar is the brainchild of Corinne Smith and Amara Jarratt, co-creators of the Sydney Tea Festival and founding members of the Australasian Specialty Tea Association (AASTA).

Corinne says, “The Rabbit Hole Organic Tea Bar is the sexy side of tea. For years it’s been presented as dusty old teabags brewed in dirty old pots but we won’t stand for it any longer. Our hand made blends and unique creations, not to mention our brewing methods, will blow your mind and change the way you think about tea forever.”

The Rabbit Hole Steampunk

The 50-seat Matt Woods designed space, featuring a teabag sculpture by Chilean artist Valeria Burgoa, has an extensive seasonal beverage menu of innovative blends and single origin teas brewed in the revolutionary Steampunk crucibles. This will be a coffee-free destination, although customers have the option of making the signature Rabbit Hole Chai Latte ‘dirty’ with a shot of espresso. If tea-lovers are in need of an energy boost, they can try the Guayusa Tea Shot, a clean yet supercharged caffeine hit to stimulate the mind and body.

Tea infusion continues across the food menu, enhancing dishes such as the Matcha Granola served with seasonal fruit and unsweetened yoghurt, Tea Marbled Egg with Kimchi and Black Sesame, and beef slow cooked in black tea.

Redfern has seen a flurry of restaurants, bars and galleries popping up and delighting residents, and The Rabbit Hole is the perfect addition to the line-up, offering a haven for tea-lovers and those after something a little bit different. Customers will also be able to purchase and take home their favourite flavours, as well as a range of bespoke ceramics and other tea ware.
