Well, yeehaa and Happy Thanksgiving to all our readers from the good ol’ US of A! We at Sydney Social feel it’s particularly important to count our blessings in times of strife and reckon we would all do well to follow our American cousins’ lead in taking the time to appreciate what we have and give thanks. And luckily the Surry Hills’ craft beer favourites, Dove & Olive and Keg & Brew, are providing us with a perfect way to do so while thoroughly enjoying ourselves by honouring their American roots and celebrating the tradition of Thanksgiving with food and drinks specials!

Brooklyn Brewery’s brand ambassador Miro Bellini will be in-house on Thanksgiving (Thursday 26th November) for free tastings from 5.30-6.30pm at the Keg & Brew and from 7-8pm at the Dove & Olive. Schooners of Brooklyn Lager will be available all week for the special price of $8.50.

Both pubs will serve a traditional Roasted Turkey breast, glazed in maple and served with seasonal steamed vegetables, kumara mash and cranberry-orange sauce which sounds divine. The Keg & Brew will also feature a Butternut pumpkin & ricotta lasagne for the vegetarians while the Dove & Olive will offer Gnocchi al pumpkin – rosemary roasted pumpkin puree, gnocchi, sage and aged parmesan. These specials will be available everyday this week.

And if you like American -style food, look out for the new venture from The Good Beer Company, the group responsible for the Dove & Olive and Keg & Brew. The’re taking over local Randwick favourite The Dog (Duke of Gloucester) to bring the feel of New Orleans to the Eastern suburbs with a makeover of the food, drinks and interiors planned for completion by Christmas. Look out for more details to be revealed soon on Sydney Social 101!
