NOMAD Group has opened the first part of Beau on Reservoir Street in Surry Hills, a mere 200m from NOMAD Sydney. Led by head chef Ibrahim Kasif, Beau & Dough is an all day venue focusing on manoush. Part two of the venue, Beau Bar will open on 24th, showcasing a wine-centric bar with a menu driven by fresh seafood.

Beau & Dough originates from the team’s deep love of manoush – Lebanese flatbread doused in oil and za’atar. Designed to be eaten in, or on the go, the opening menu includes all day manoush with savoury toppings of labne, spiced lamb, turkish sausage; or a sweet manoush topped with halva pistachio and honey. Breakfast manoush boards are served with tomato, cucumber, pickles, labneh, sheep’s milk feta, olives and broken eggs. Available from midday, the lunch menu includes a Blue Eye Trevalla fish burger; kofta wraps; spiced chicken shawarma; and a Middle Eastern chopped salad. Vegetarian dishes are not an afterthought at Dough, with highlights including falafels with spiced hummus; and a vegetable plate of fried cauliflower with zhug and tahini, roast pumpkin & baba, silverbeet and muhamara. Coffee will be a Beau house blend, roasted by much-loved neighbours Single O.

The food at Beau Bar will be fun and playful with a heavy focus on fresh seafood, and snacks to pair with the extensive beverage program. Dishes from the opening menu include: chilled seafood platter; raw fish tabouli with manoush crackers; cuttlefish a la Plancha; lobster thermidor; prawns with marie rose; ox-tongue bun with Moreton Bay bug and Russian Sauce; and flank steak with frites.

The opening beverage program will stay true to NOMAD Group’s ethos, with a strong core of Australian wines, spirits and beers. With 300 wines by-the-bottle, the by-the-glass list will be presented under three headings; tapped, poured, preserved. Catering to all price points the wines will focus on being dynamic and unique as they steer away from mainstream pours with natural and minimal intervention wines having a strong presence on the list. Spirits and beers where possible will be Australian made with substitutes to classic cocktails being made with Australian blends.
