From the team behind Devon Cafe, Lucky Suzie is cheeky, flirty, and a little bit quirky. Serving up street eats and killer cocktails straight outta Penang, it’s the perfect place to get floozy with Suzie.  Lucky Suzie mixes classic street snacks, hawker food, and charcoal dishes with native Australian produce for a fresh take on Malaysian cuisine. Cocktails get an Asian twist with inspiration drawn from Kopitiam coffee houses and Malaysian flavours.

Opening in March under their original trading name of Lazy Suzie, owners Derek Puah and Noni Widjaja and owner and executive chef Zacharay Tan were informed of a potential trademark conflict.“We were sent a legal notice indicating we were infringing on the trademark of Lazy Susan’s Comedy Den in Perth. We didn’t want to wear the expense of going to court, so we decided to change the name to Lucky Suzie,” says Puah.

“Lucky Suzie also seems more appropriate to the fun vibe we are trying to create,” adds chef Tan. “We wanted to bring our focus back to vibrant, bar-style dining and re-emphasise Malaysian street food.”

To usher in the new, favourable name, Lucky Suzie has introduced ‘Lucky Hour’ from 5pm-7pm; with select cocktails for only $10 and a range of beers and wines for only $7. Lucky Suzie has also launched a new menu, which emphasises local, seasonal produce. The fresh, bar-style dishes include crispy-fried quail, Aunty Yulia’s beef rendang, pork belly satay and pandan custard spiced layer cake, with ingredients sourced from ethical and sustainably focused suppliers.
