Sydney Social 101 recently visited Luna Lu for dinner and cocktails. We were super excited to try this one out due to the iconic location and the delicious looking menu!

We were warmly welcomed by the incredible and attentive staff on arrival and were ushered to our seats-  teal blue velvet seats that is- luxe! We started with a round of cocktails. We shared the popular Luna Magic- A magical ginger and lemongrass tea infused with Belvedere Vodka served over ice and seasonal florals; and the Gobi Mirage – a delicious mix of pineapple, agave syrup, Curaçao and Herradura Plata with charcoal salts to heighten your senses.

We decided on a mix of small plates and larger plates to share and I must say we made an excellent selection! We started with the Swordfish Bao (3 pieces) with generous pieces of seared Mooloolaba Swordfish belly, pickled daikon and carrot, dill and a spicy tamarind mayo. We also had the melt in your mouth cured silver skin King Fish served with a wasabi emulsion and fresh kiwi salsa, dressed with a yuzu ginger dressing and rainbow trout caviar and with crunchy lotus chips of the side.

From the larger dishes we had the Moreton Bay Bug Salad  with fresh Queensland Moreton Bay bugs in a light tempura batter served with crisp taro, mixed leaves and a black vinegar, ichimi garlic dressing. We also had the super tender  wok fried MB6+ Wagyu Beef with onion and asparagus, seasoned with sweet wasabi.

Sadly we were so full after out mains that we didn’t have room for dessert. However, if we had enough room we would have definitely ordered the Matchamisu- dark chocolate, matcha jelly, honey comb and matcha cream cheese.
