The team behind renowned CBD Middle Eastern eatery Above Par have opened Malika Bakehouse, an authentic Turkish bakery located in Botany.
Malika Bakehouse is a new school bakery, with a team of Turkish bakers creating a selection of freshly baked pastries daily, including Borek – a filled pastry made of thin flaky dough with a variety of fillings, Baklava – a layered pastry dessert made of filo pastry, filled with chopped nuts, and sweetened with honey, Corek – a salty-buttery seeded muffin, Pogaca – a savory bread, and Acma – a soft Turkish bagel.
Alongside the rotating daily baked goods, Malika’s Bakehouse offers a set menu of breakfast and brunch items, such as Simit Sandwiches – the national breakfast dish of Turkey, Menemen – Turkish one pan eggs, Hand Made Gozleme – savoury Turkish stuffed flatbread, Kofte Plate – Turkish Style meatballs, muhammara, bulghur rice, and lavash, and Kunefe – a traditional Middle Eastern dessert made with spun pastry, stretchy cheese, carob butter, pistachio, and ice cream. Beverages include six different coffee brews, including their own Turkish coffee blend, Turkish Apple tea and a variety of hot and chilled drinks.
Malika’s design is modern and simplistic, with warm orange interiors, hues of dark green and white accents, natural concrete flooring, booth seating, and communal tables inside and in the large outdoor area.
At the heart of Malika Bakehouse is its authenticity, offering a taste of Turkey in Sydney. Enjoy a coffee before work, a relaxed brunch, or an assortment of delicious daily baked treats best shared with family and friends.
