Much-loved local cafe, The Walrus Waverley is now open for dinner Wednesday through Saturday, dishing up modern, contemporary fare with a worldly influence. What’s more, it’s BYO, meaning you can grab your favourite tipple and head on in for a casual yet completely satisfying feed.
The Walrus Waverley, takes its name from a Beatles song and is the sister to the original Warlus in the heart of Sydney City on Pitt Street. The scandi-chic, 38-seater has been plating up brunch style favourites and moreish lunchtime bites including a delicious array of ready-to-go items perfect for those on the run or after a bite post morning swim at Bronte Beach.
Featuring Cleanskin Coffee Co, The Walrus has quickly become a local haunt for those in search of that early morning caffeine fix. Locals and visitors alike, including those with prams and pooches take advantage of the cafe
window and footpath servery.
Highlighted by its simplicity, with hues of pink, the interior, boasts leather upholstery and banquettes, timber chairs, tile treatments and a touch of greenery. The Nordic and contemporary fusion allows the food on the plate to
be the focus and if the existing menu is anything to go off, dinners at Walrus will be equally as delicious.
Diners can expect an assortment of starters, perfect for sharing, including Baked Bone Marrow with parmesan
crust, black garlic, caramelised onion and pickled cucumber (18) or the Roast Broccoli Steak with zingy red
tahini topped with toasted macadamias (16.9) or a fusion of the best from two of the world’s food capitals with
an Indian Lamb and Eggplant Pizza (16).
Those after something more substantial can choose from dishes like the Charred Chicken with salsa verde
served with creamy risotto and glazed vichy baby carrots (28) or the Agave-Glazed Pork Belly with beetroot
and blueberry puree, crispy apple and fennel slaw (28.9). There is also the Walrus Grain Fed Scotch Fillet, with eschalot confit and creamy wasabi mash topped with tempura veggies (32) and a selection of pastas from the
Pulled Lamb Ragu (26) to the Seafood Linguine with star anise butter (26.9).
Release your inner child and bring back all those nostalgic holiday feels with the Wonton s’mores and Nutella dipping sauce (14) or the Walrus Ice-Cream Sandwich (14). There is also a Creamy Chai Spiced Panna Cotta with salted caramel and pistachio praline (14) or a Coconut Pandan Crème Brûlée (14).
