Boasting a delicious A La Carte modern Australian menu, stunning comfortable and contemporary interiors, exceptional coffee from Will & Co and brilliant old school hospitality, the newly opened La Cantina Cafe in St Leonards is already a hit with the locals.
Located in the beautiful and vibrant Air Apartments a few minutes’ walk from St Leonards Station, La Cantina Cafe St Leonards is fully licensed and offers breakfast, brunch and lunch as well as free Wifi making it the perfect place for a coffee with friends, a business meeting or an informal long lunch with a glass of wine. The menu features an array of dishes to suit every taste bud with healthy, vegetarian and gluten free options available and all at very reasonable prices.
With sister cafes located on Kent Street and Sussex Street in Sydney and also in North Sydney, the key to La Cantina’s expansion and success has been the value they put on the freshness, consistency and quality of their products and their focus on premium service. Owner Richard Saliba says that ‘we are in the “people business”’ and he strongly believes that although they may sell food and beverages, loyal customers and caring staff are the most important part. Richard is the heart of the business and will bend over backwards to ensure his staff and customers are happy.
Recently I popped in to La Cantina St Leonards for breakfast to check out the new location’s interiors, sample some of the delicious items on the menu and get my morning coffee fix. I was so glad I went with an empty stomach and wearing something billowy as there was so much on the menu that I wanted to try. I ordered one of the staff favourites which was the Salmon and Avocado stack with 2 poached eggs on rye sourdough ($17.50) and the French toast with maple syrup and strawberries ($15) and, of course, a latte.
The salmon melted in my mouth, the poach eggs were perfectly cooked with delicious runny centres and the avocado was beautifully mixed with feta, mint and a squeeze of lemon. The French toast was en pointe too with a hint of cinnamon and served with a generous drizzle of maple syrup and fresh strawberries. The latte was smooth with a beautifully rich flavour and really gave me that kick start to the day.
Most importantly, the service was absolutely impeccable. I was very warmly welcomed, the staff made me feel very comfortable and part of the family (and gave great food recommendations) and the service was quick and efficient. I left feeling full, satisfied, in high spirits (coffee and being so warmly welcomed will do that!) and knowing that I would be back very soon!
