Tommy’s is a Mexican restaurant & cocktail bar in the heart of Darlinghurst, with a passion for Mexican/South American cuisine and agave spirits.
In the kitchen they cook over charcoals on a traditional Parrilla charcoal grill to enhance the flavours of the food. Behind the bar they focus on freshness:  every juice is freshly squeezed daily and every syrup & cordial made in house creating a truly unique list of margaritas and tequila & mezcal based cocktails.
Head chef Marcus Michel has created a new menu that is focused around seasonal and locally sourced ingredients, the plates and sauces are a bit lighter and fresher, better suited to the warmer months.
Recently the Sydney Social team popped into Tommy’s for a mid week dinner and a few margies! Tommy’s is centrally located between Oxford St and Kings cross making it super easy to get to. The dining area is casual, funky and full of life. The wait staff are welcoming, fun and super attentive, making your dining experience very enjoyable and relaxed.
We started off with a round of strong and tasty Margarita’s while we perused the menu. For starters we shared the Guacamole with arbol chilli oil, spice dusted corn chips, ancient seeds & mixed nuts.
We then movedto the fresh, summery, melt in your mouth kingfish ceviche served with Passion fruit Aquachilé, micro herbs and watermelon radish. We also tried a few tacos because how can you have mexican without trying the tacos! We enjoyed the Tica Baja Fish taco with rainbow slaw, pico de gallo and jalapeño aioli and the 8hr slow cooked lamb shoulder taco with piquillos, spanish onion and mint yoghurt dressing.
Next we tried the Chuleton A La Parilla- tender chargrilled grass-fed ribeye, escalivada, chimichurri and pickled guindilas. On the side we devoured the sweet corn ribs smothered in manchego cheese, truffle oil and chipotle mayo.
I wish we had room for dessert! So instead  I will heave to go back to Tommy’s soon to try the Homemade Churros with dulce de leche and salted caramel ice cream! Drool!
