From Calendar Chaos to Family Harmony with a side of Disney: Why I Love the Skylight Calendar Max

If your family calendar currently lives in your head (or worse, on a dozen sticky notes), the Skylight Calendar Max 27 inch might just be the household upgrade you never knew you needed. And now, thanks to a magical new Disney collaboration, it’s become even more appealing for families with young kids.

I’ll admit it. I only recently gave up my trusty paper diary for the calendar on my phone. It felt like a big step into the digital world… until I realised my husband couldn’t see what I’d scheduled, the kids’ activities kept clashing, and I was constantly fielding the same question: “What’s on today?” Cue the double bookings, forgotten appointments and the daily calendar interrogation.

Enter the Skylight Calendar Max 27 inch!

Mounted on the wall, this giant touchscreen instantly become the command centre of our home. Instead of everyone’s schedules living on my phone, the whole family can see exactly what’s happening at a glance. Whether it’s pre school events, sports training, birthday parties, doctor’s appointments or date nights, it’s all there in one colourful, easy to read display. Best of all, it automatically syncs with popular calendars including Google, Apple, Outlook, Yahoo and Cozi, so updates made on your phone appear on the Skylight almost instantly.

The 27 inch display is what really sets the Calendar Max apart. It’s big enough for everyone to read from across the kitchen, making it impossible to miss what’s coming up. The crisp QHD touchscreen is responsive and can be mounted in either portrait or landscape orientation to suit your space.

What surprised me most wasn’t just how organised I became. It was how much more organised everyone else became. My husband can quickly check the week’s schedule before committing to plans, the kids can see what’s happening on the weekend, and I’m no longer the family’s full time calendar keeper. It genuinely takes the mental load off me and spreads it across the household.

One of my favourite features is the shared chore charts, which have made getting the kids involved around the house much easier. Now, Skylight has found a way to make those daily jobs even more exciting with the launch of Disney Mode, an optional feature available to Skylight Plus members.

Rather than simply ticking off completed chores, Disney Mode transforms everyday routines into something kids actually want to participate in. My daughters were instantly drawn to the familiar faces from Disney, Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars, with characters like Stitch, Moana and Elsa popping up throughout the experience. Completing tasks now triggers fun onscreen celebrations featuring Disney inspired animations and stickers, making simple jobs like packing away toys or brushing teeth feel like an achievement worth celebrating.

Kids can also personalise their profiles by choosing from 16 Disney character avatars, while Disney themed screensavers bring colourful artwork into the home even when the calendar isn’t in use. One of the cleverest additions is the reward celebrations, where redeeming earned rewards is accompanied by Disney themed animations that make reaching goals feel extra special. It’s a simple addition, but one that genuinely motivates little ones to stay engaged with their routines.

What I particularly like is that Disney Mode enhances the existing Skylight experience rather than changing it. Families who love the original interface can simply leave the feature switched off, while those looking for an extra incentive for younger children can activate it whenever they like.

Beyond Disney Mode, Skylight still packs in plenty of practical family friendly extras. There are shared task lists, custom lists, weather updates and parental controls included, while the Skylight Plus subscription also unlocks meal planning, photo screensavers and Magic Import, which cleverly transforms emailed school newsletters, PDFs and flyers into calendar events automatically.

Is it an investment? Absolutely. But if your family is constantly juggling multiple schedules, sporting commitments and school activities, it’s the kind of purchase that saves far more than time. It saves the endless back and forth conversations and those inevitable “I didn’t know we had that on!” moments.

The Skylight Calendar Max hasn’t just replaced the paper planner I thought I’d miss. It’s become the family organiser I wish we’d had years ago, and with Disney Mode adding a little extra magic to everyday routines, it’s found another clever way to make family life run just that little bit smoother. And perhaps the biggest win of all? When someone asks, “What’s on today?”, I no longer have to answer. They simply look at the wall.
