Fujifilm Wants You to Hunt Down Sydney’s Most Photographed Colours (And Will Lend You the Camera to Do It)

Turns out Australians’ camera rolls have a type. And it’s green.

New research from Fujifilm has found that Forest Green is officially the most-captured colour in Australians’ 2026 camera rolls, appearing in almost half (49%) of respondents’ top shots. Cobalt Blue trails close behind at 39%, well ahead of other trend-led shades like Butter Yellow (22%), Merlot Red (19%), Mocha Brown (19%) and Fuchsia Pink (16%). Turns out when 59% of the country – around 12 million Australians – identify as casual photographers or content creators these days, we’re all apparently drawn to the same handful of hues without even realising it.

To celebrate World Photography Day, Fujifilm is taking that data out of the spreadsheet and onto the streets, inviting Sydneysiders to a complimentary Colour Hunt at Fujifilm House of Photography on Saturday 22 August. It’s a hands-on riff on the viral Colour Hunt trend that’s been doing the rounds on social media, except this time you get a Fujifilm camera, a professional photographer and a proper city-wide scavenger hunt to go with it.

Here’s how it works. Each session kicks off inside the studio, where participants get their hands on a Fujifilm camera before joining Henry C – a photographer known for his bold, dramatic use of colour – for a practical workshop. Using lighting and props built around the session’s featured colour, you’ll learn how to actually capture bold shades through composition, light and camera settings, while getting a look at how Fujifilm’s colour science helps translate colour with a bit more depth and authenticity than your phone camera typically manages.

From there, the group heads out into Sydney CBD for the main event: a guided Colour Hunt, tracking down the featured colour across architecture, fashion, street art, cafés and general everyday chaos, with Henry C on hand for real-time tips along the way. Back at the studio, you’ll get to print your favourite shot at the print station and take home a complimentary photo print — proof you actually found it.

There’s also a little extra incentive to keep shooting after the fact. Share an original Colour Hunt image on Instagram, tag @fujifilmx_au and use #greenblooded and #FujifilmColourHunt, and you’ll go into the draw to win a FUJINON XF35mmF2 R WR Black Lens (RRP $699), with three runners-up each picking up a $100 Fujifilm House of Photography gift card.

Spots are limited and running on a first-come, first-served basis via Eventbrite, so if you’ve been meaning to get more intentional with your photography (or just want an excuse to wander Sydney with a proper camera for once), this is a solid way to spend a Saturday.
