Living in an amazing city such as Sydney never gets old, the stunning scenery, the beautiful weather and endless options of things to do.

One thing I do miss is the opportunity to stay in Sydney as a visitor, to experience it as a traveler – to take advantage of the vast array of fabulous hotels and to sit back and take it all in…

The amazing team at Booking.com.au contacted Sydney Social 101 to offer a ‘staycation’ at the renowned Pier One Sydney Harbour – to say we jumped at the chance for ‘a bit of posh’ is putting it mildly – if you’ve ever had the pleasure to see the Pier One Sydney Harbour, you’ll understand why.

The Pier One Sydney Harbour, built over 100 years ago as a working cargo Wharf and passenger transit point, it is somewhat of a Sydney treasure. Pier One Sydney Harbour is undoubtedly rich in character has been transformed into a modern contemporary hotel. We were well looked after, the view from the room was incredible, the bedroom was stylish yet homely and the breakfast was everything you could want and more (whilst sitting outside on the harbour watching the world go by).

With 189 re-imagined private sanctuaries, with either water or city skyline views, including 18 suites, 4 of which boast incredible balconies over Sydney Harbour and Walsh Bay, Pier One is a timeless blend of heritage architecture with chic luxury modern features.

A stay at a hotel is not complete without the cool, cotton signature bathrobes which invite you to slip into something more comfortable (we did), play some tunes on the iPod/smartphone technology available in every room and soak up one of the most celebrated cityscapes in the world.

We were told that we were welcome at any time of the day or night to select a cuddle buddy from the pillow menu – nice! If you’re after something more stimulating, you can always make friends with the eclectic Mini-Bar and just enjoy (the prices aren’t too expensive considering where you are)

It’s all there for you in a Pier One Sydney Harbour escape of your choice.

It was fantastic to fell like a guest in my own city, I couldn’t recommend doing it every so often – you can switch off from everyday stresses and step away from the buzz of the CBD as you enjoy a sunset cocktail, whilst enjoying views across magnificent Walsh Bay.

Sadly the restaurant was closed as it’s being refurbished, however we’ll be sure to return in late December to enjoy innovative world class dining under the guidance of Pier One Sydney Harbour’s new Executive Chef Chris Irving when the restaurant re opens.

Pier One Sydney Harbour offers a stay that exceeds already high expectations. With its artful and seamless marriage of air, land and water, the hotel provides an ever-changing backdrop of the best of man-made architecture combined with the breathtaking beauty of Mother Nature. Temperate Sydney winters and moderate summers allow guests to enjoy all that Pier One Sydney Harbour has to offer, all year round. And man’s best friend is welcome too.
