This Australia Day, travel back to the 1950s with femme fatale Tilly Dunnage (Kate Winslet), for a journey of love, revenge and haute couture in The Dressmaker at Moonlight Cinema. Joined by a star studded Australian cast, don’t miss the latest Aussie box office smash hit.

Audiences are in for a delightfully quirky spaghetti western inspired tale under a moonlit sky on Tuesday 26 January 2016 in Sydney, as a glamorous woman (Winslet) returns to her small town in rural Australia to tend to her sick mother, with just her sewing machine and haute couture style.

Hollywood heartthrob Liam Hemsworth plays Winslet’s love interest Teddy McSwiney, Australian acting royalty Hugo Weaving is closet transvestite Sergeant Farrat, and scene-stealer Judy Davis plays Mad Molly – Tilly’s cranky old bag of a mother.

Sarah Snook, Rebecca Gibney, Shane Jacobson, Barry Otto and Sacha Horler are among some of the great home grown talent adding industry clout and sparkle to The Dressmaker.

After its world premiere at 2015 Toronto International Film Festival, this comedy-drama has received raving reviews, hailed “Clint Eastwood’sUnforgiven with a sewing machine”.

The film is directed by Australian filmmaker Jocelyn Moorhouse; best known for her work on the highly acclaimed Australian classic starring Hugo Weaving and Russell Crowe, Proof (1991), which won six AFI awards; along with comedy Unconditional Love (2002).

The Dressmaker is part of a massive 2015/16 season, screening across Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide from 03 Dec; Perth from 05 Dec; and Brisbane from 16 Dec. With over 15 advanced screenings, cult classics and doggie nights under the stars, summer nights don’t get much better than this!
