If your group chat constantly swings between “we should book dinner” and “we should go to comedy,” Sydney’s newest pop-up experience has solved the problem for you.
This June, EveryPlate is launching what might genuinely be one of the more fun and affordable nights out we’ve seen in a while, blending a full three-course dinner with live comedy at Potts Point Hotel for one night only.
Called Dinner Roast, the concept is exactly what it sounds like: part dinner party, part stand-up show, part collective therapy session for anyone who has ever absolutely butchered a recipe from TikTok.
And honestly? It sounds chaotic in the best possible way.
Headlining the night is Nikki Osborne (aka Bush Barbie), joined by Troy Kinne and Gen Fricker, with the comedians roasting over-the-top foodie culture, recipe fails and real kitchen disasters submitted by Aussies themselves.
Which means yes, your air fryer catastrophe or “quick 20-minute dinner” that somehow took three hours could technically become part of the entertainment.
The whole thing feels very millennial-coded in a way I deeply appreciate.
Because let’s be honest: dining culture has become intense lately. Every restaurant opening feels like an Olympic sport to get into, everyone’s suddenly fermenting something, and social media has somehow convinced us all we should be making restaurant-quality meals on a Tuesday night after work.
Meanwhile, most of us are just trying to get something vaguely nutritious on the table without emotionally collapsing in the pasta aisle.
That’s what I actually love about this concept. It doesn’t take food culture too seriously.
It’s nostalgic, funny, self-aware and genuinely accessible at a time when Sydney nights out can feel wildly expensive.
And for less than the cost of many standard comedy tickets right now, guests are getting:
- a full three-course meal
- live stand-up from three huge Australian comedians
- interactive audience moments
- and an excuse to leave the house during peak winter hibernation season
The event takes over Level 1 of Potts Point Hotel on Thursday 18 June from 6:30pm and tickets are expected to move quickly, particularly with Nikki Osborne leading the lineup.
Honestly, it feels like the kind of night Sydney needs more of right now. Less pretentiousness. More shared laughter. More stories. More chaos.
And preferably carbs.
