Terrigal Pavilion’s newest restaurant has officially opened
If you’ve ever wished you could slip into a long lunch on the Amalfi Coast without leaving the Central Coast, today is your day. Terrigal Pavilion has just unveiled The Tropic, the final piece of its multi-level seaside venue, and it is every bit the Mediterranean-inspired escape locals have been waiting for.
Perched on the ground floor of the Pavilion and framed by uninterrupted ocean views, The Tropic is an elevated yet easygoing dining destination that blends sunshine-soaked design with a Modern Australian menu shaped by Mediterranean flavours.
The 280-seat restaurant completes the Pavilion’s impressive line-up, following the recent launch of the buzzing upstairs bar and the beachy takeaway spot The General Store. Together, the trio brings a new wave of all-day dining and drinking to Terrigal.
A space designed around the view
From the moment you step inside, the ocean does the talking. Custom-made floor-to-ceiling windows open up the entire restaurant to the coastline, ensuring the view is a constant companion no matter where you sit. For those convinced they’ll be stuck looking at a wall, fear not. An oversized mirror runs the full length of the back wall, reflecting the waves so every seat feels like a front-row experience.
Design lovers will appreciate the layered, tactile finishes that nod to Southern Europe. Think linen directors’ chairs, yellow terrazzo tables, and a show-stopping 12 metre custom-glazed bar wrapped in lemon tart-coloured Spanish tiles. It is relaxed luxury with a Central Coast accent.
A menu made for sharing
The Tropic’s kitchen leans into vibrant, produce-led dishes perfect for long lunches and leisurely dinners with friends. Oysters are shucked to order and served on ice with lemon and a house-made chardonnay mignonette. The beef tartare, finished with capers, shallots, pickles, parsley and quail egg yolk, arrives with a secret dressing that instantly elevates it beyond the classic.
Small plates include burrata with pesto, roast pumpkin hummus, pickled white and brown anchovies and antipasto that is ideal to share, while mains feature a tight edit of pastas, lightly-seared goldband snapper fillet, grilled wagyu flank and a thyme and lemon roast free-range chicken.
Terrigal Pavilion co-owner Rob Domjen says the menu has been designed with connection in mind.
“This is a space that’s made for bringing people together over good food, good drinks and an unbeatable location. Whether it’s a milestone celebration, a long lunch or a mid-week dinner as golden hour sets over the ocean, we hope this becomes a destination for gatherings of all sizes.”
More reasons to celebrate
The Tropic’s drinks list leans into the Mediterranean sensibility of celebration. With more than 90 bottles of champagne and wine including magnums of Louis Roederer and AIX, plus signature cocktails like the Tropic Margarita and the Haven Sunset, there is no shortage of ways to toast the view.
A private dining room featuring pink and yellow marble tables is available for larger groups, alongside three set menus starting from $80.
The Central Coast’s answer to Burleigh Pavilion
Terrigal Pavilion, tipped as New South Wales’ coastal counterpart to Queensland’s iconic Burleigh Pavilion, sits just over an hour north of Sydney. The multi-level venue from Rob Domjen and Ben May holds an impressive 760-person capacity and runs from sunrise at The General Store right through to late nights at The Tropic and The Pavilion.
The Tropic is open Wednesday to Sunday from midday until late with reservations available. Terrigal Pavilion is open from midday during the week and from 11am on weekends, while The General Store opens daily from 6am.
