Social 101 was invited to the opening night of La Traviata: the story that inspired Moulin Rouge on Sydney Harbour. It was one of the most incredible nights we have ever had in Sydney – and trust me, that’s not an over statement.

The music, the voices, the talent, the backdrop and the fireworks, oh the fire works!  The jewel on the crown is the 3.5-tonne chandelier which sparkles with 10,000 crystals. The biggest scenes feature 70 performers on stage and party boats in the harbour.

It’s an absolute sight to behold, and the perfect date night, special occasion event or simply the perfect setting to see Sydney in all its glory.

Some of you may recognise the sound track, and even the name – I clue I like to use to jog people’s memories is” “Oh my, it was so good I almost pee’d my pants’. Yes you got it, that’s right – Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman.

Set on Sydney’s Harbour with the iconic skyline as a backdrop, ticket holders can enjoy wine, food and nibbles pre -performance as they anticipate the opening act (which does not disappoint).

Violetta is the life of every party. A courtesan with a heart of gold, she’s free and free-spirited. Could a little love change everything?

Verdi’s score offers flying melodies, rousing drinking songs and heart-breaking duets. Brian Castles-Onion conducts the opera, with a live orchestra hidden under the stage.

If you’re keen to check out the show for yourselves (which I highly reccommned), you need to hurry as there’s only 1 1/2 weeks left. Tickets start from just $99 per person and you can order your tickets here.
