Summer is here and you know what that means! It is time to trade in the traditional inside cinema experience for some picturesque alfresco film watching! Sydney cinema pop-up, The Sunset Cinema, has made its anticipated return to the magical natural and historic surrounds of the North Sydney Oval. With the historic grandstand and incredible views of the lights of North Sydney, the venue provides the perfect backdrop to watch the stars under the stars.

With screenings running until Saturday 24th March, there is plenty of opportunity to grab your crew, pack a picnic and picnic blanket (or beanbags are available to hire for $9 when you book your ticket), and prepare to be entertained by an epic line-up of Oscar favourites, the latest blockbusters, golden oldies and films the whole family will love.

The full 2017 program, available to view here, includes the inspiring drama Wonder (I literally did not stop crying the whole movie. It is beyond heart warming and is a must-see!), Star Wars: The Last Jedi, 2017’s animation hit, Ferdinand, and Hollywood’s latest blockbuster starring Hugh Jackman, The Greatest Showman on Earth.

If you don’t have time to pack a picnic to munch on while watching the film, never fear! The Greens North Sydney are set to serve a signature menu including prawn brioche rolls, slow-cooked beef brisket and crispy onion baguettes, haloumi and chicken salads, gourmet cheese platters and dessert plates with chocolate dipped strawberries and macaroons. For those who fancy wetting their whistles, there’s boutique wine available from Madfish Wines and craft beer from 4 Pines Brewing Company. And for those who want the full cinema experience there is of course Cobs popcorn and treats available on site.

Tickets are $12 for kids and $19 for adults. If you want a little bit of extra luxury you can opt for the Peugeot Lawn Lounge ticket which gives you a premium entry ticket, your own reserved Bean Lounger PLUS a bag of Cobs popcorn and a glass of MadFish wine or 4 Pines beer (or non-alcoholic drink) for $40.
