If you’ve ever found yourself tearing up during Interstellar, gripping the edge of your seat during The Dark Knight, or suddenly feeling like you could conquer the world thanks to the Gladiator soundtrack, this one’s for you.
Hans Zimmer is officially returning to Australia this October with a brand-new arena spectacular, Hans Zimmer Live – The Next Level, and by the sounds of it, this won’t just be a concert. It’s shaping up to be a full-body cinematic experience.
After selling out 50 shows across Europe and performing to more than 600,000 fans, the multiple Oscar and Grammy-winning composer is bringing his latest production to Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney.
And yes, the setlist is expected to feature the scores we all know and love from films including The Lion King, Pirates of the Caribbean, Interstellar, Dune, Gladiator, The Dark Knight, Top Gun: Maverick and more.
For millennials especially, Zimmer’s music has basically become the soundtrack to our lives. From movie dates in the early 2000s to binge-watching prestige TV and streaming epic sci-fi soundtracks while pretending we’re the main character on a Monday commute, his compositions are deeply woven into pop culture.
But what makes this tour feel different is the scale.
According to Zimmer himself, The Next Level is designed to feel more immersive and visceral than ever before.
“I want fans to feel like they’re at a rave party or riding a roller coaster,” Zimmer shared.
Honestly? That tracks.
The production will feature a newly designed architectural stage, electronic soundscapes layered with orchestral arrangements, and Zimmer’s powerhouse 19-piece band alongside a lineup of vocalists including Australian icon Lisa Gerrard.
If you’ve never seen Hans Zimmer live before, it’s difficult to explain just how emotional it gets. One minute you’re listening to a score from a film you loved years ago, and the next you’re suddenly transported back to that exact chapter of your life.
There’s also something really beautiful about seeing film music finally get the same arena-level energy as rock concerts. Because let’s be honest, these soundtracks have shaped generations.
And in a year where everyone seems to be craving experiences over “stuff”, this feels like exactly the kind of night people will remember.
