So we’re going to let you in on a little secret in the hopes that we’re making that process all that much easier. Here it is: have a go-to brand. Once you’ve found the perfect fit pair of jeans, remember its brand name. Here’s why: chances are, the brand’s other jeans styles will also fit you like a glove. To start you off on the hunt for your go-to denim brand, here are five of our current favourites:
Abrand
Melbourne-based denim house Three by One launched Abrand in 2013. The label blends impeccable fit and quality fabric together to create the perfect pair of denim jeans. Each pair is marked with a triangular symbol representing the three laws of Abrand purpose — fit, finish and fabric. Their latest winter collection REPENT is dark and seductive, and we’re utterly entranced.
Nobody Denim
In the backstreets of Melbourne in 1999, a small family-built denim laundry was starting its operation. Using unique tools and techniques Nobody Denim has quietly been building its reputation in the denim world in the 16 years since. We’re currently lusting over their Cult Skinny range. The brand is now stocked in countless major fashion retailers and e-tailers in Australia and select international locations.
Forever 21
The American fast-fashion retail chain that has slowly been taking over the rest of the world finally opened up shop in Australia last year. We were very, very pleased about it. Forever 21 denim proves that jeans don’t need to be expensive to provide a great. With denim styles changing constantly (current update: wide-legged’s out, flared is in), it’s difficult and pricey to keep up. Forever 21 is the answer to the budget gals’ prayers.
Rollas
A creative couple’s passion project is bound to be… well — creative. Andy Paltos and Sarah Gilsenan were working in global denim and lifestyle brands when they decided to join forces to design something more personal. With the underlying brand theme of simplicity, Rollas uses modern fabrications and technology to create the ultimate fit. Our fave? The Eastcoast High Skinny Jeans in bondi blue (the best shade of blue, in our humble opinion).
J Brand
Nothing says effortless/cool like an LA label. The city has the blended laid-back and sophisticated style down to a (relaxed) T. J Brand is one of said labels, offering minimalist denim in classic styles. Almost since their start in 2004, the label has remained synonymous with ‘premium denim’ and a celebrity fave. Since flares are proving to be all the rage this year, we’re already mentally filing away our favourite flared styles to re-visit on payday.
