Her latest collection, Azulejus, makes you want to jet-set off on a never-ending island holiday, channeling the brilliant ceramic tile art of the Mediterranean through her vibrant patterns. We are so in love with Natalija’s new collection and got the chance to have a quick chat with Natalija about her new collection, her wardrobe staples and her tips for mastering that ‘sleepwear as daywear’ trend.
What is the inspiration behind your latest collection Azulejos?
The vibrant colours, lifestyle and romantic ‘picture-postcard’ of the Mediterranean are the inspirations behind Azulejos. The new collection sees influences from the ceramic tile art that has multi-hues, geometric shapes, and assembled to form bold patterns. Each print has a staggering richness, an emphasis on sensual, is an immediate expression of eccentricity.
Your aim with this collection is to make us feel like we are on holidays every day. What is your ultimate holiday destination?
Definitely! Each piece hints at nostalgia for those lazy sun-drenched days of relaxed glamour on holidays…
While a romantic holiday in France may seem obvious, there is so much more to the place than a selfie in front of the Eiffel Tower and Louvre. Last year, I honeymooned in the South of France and it was magical! It boasted gorgeous and varied landscapes, from rolling hills, manicured gardens and lavender fields, to palm trees lined down the Riviera. And you can’t forget the cafes, fine wine, cheese, exquisite breads, extravagant chateaus and wonderful architecture!
Can you give us some of your top tips for pulling off this super comfy loungewear trend, while still looking fashionable?
The key to pulling off the ‘pyjamas all day’ look comes down to three simple tips:
TIP 1: Choose the right fabrics – forget cosy flannels or fabrics adorned with cute animals; it’s all about sheer and silky, like any one of my gorgeous sleep/loungewear pieces!
TIP 2: Mix up the pieces – break up the ‘pyjama look’ by pairing, for example, our Riveria silk pant, with a beautiful unstructured white shirt for a perfect work or going out outfit.
TIP 3: Keep it simple and polished – no messy bed hair or smeared eyeliner! Style your silk with a high heel, fine jewellery, or a perfect nude lip.
I know it’s hard to choose, but do you have a favourite piece from the collection?
My favourite piece from the new Azulejos collection is the Under Moonlight silk pant for its navy and beautiful pastel blue – it’s so multifunctional, you can wear it so many different ways. Last week I wore it while running errands in the City with a denim shirt and white sneakers (so comfy!).
We are all about dressing with stylish comfort. What would be your staple (and most comfortable) wardrobe essentials you can’t live without?
A silk kimono robe – it’s a classic piece that I’ll cherish for the rest of my life, it’s so versatile and flattering on all shapes. Whether it’s for day or night, I pair my block coloured or floral patterned kimonos with a summery dress for a casual look, I layer it over my intimates around the house, and or pair it with skinny-jeans and heels for a perfect evening look.
