Get ready for one helluva party, as the nominees for the 2016 Time Out Sydney Bar Awards have been announced.
From late night lounges to neighbourhood haunts, winners will be revealed at the Awards ceremony on Sunday 6 December at the brand new host venue, Sky Terrace at the Star. Now in their eighth year, the awards are an exciting night for the industry, and you’re invited too.
Nominees will vie across thirteen categories including a brand new category, the Party Starter Award. The award acknowledges the people who are committed to keeping Sydney’s dancefloors alive and pumping by showcasing local legends and world-class DJs.
The night’s top gong is Bar of the Year while the People’s Choice Award hands voting to the public to name the most popular bar of 2015. Acknowledging the diversity of Sydney’s bar scene, there’s Best Party Bar, Best Neighbourhood Bar, Best Cocktail Bar, and Best Wine Bar awards. Best New Bar and the Hot Talent Award honour excellence in the new generation of talent on the scene while the Legend Award pays homage to one of the industry’s most influential and highly regarded individuals.
Time Out Australia CEO Michael Rodrigues says, “Each year the Time Out team secretly visit Sydney’s bars and party spots, give them a fresh review and nominate the best for our awards. We are supporting the industry leaders so they can keep doing what they are good at: keeping Sydney’s nightlife vibrant.”
The Time Out Sydney Bar Awards ceremony will be emceed by comedian Andrew McClelland. Tickets to the awards night are available to the public. Partygoers will be treated to White Rabbit beers, Maker’s Mark bourbon whisky and hangover cures from Hydrodol. The 2016 edition of the Time Out Sydney Bar Guide will also be launched at the event.

The Time Out Bar Awards are an industry-recognised celebration of talent, voted on by independent editors and reviewers. Last year’s winning bars included Earl’s Juke Joint, Ramblin’ Rascal Tavern, Bulletin Place and Papa Gede’s.
Voting for the People’s Choice award is open until Thursday 12 November, giving punters the chance to choose their favourite bar.
