There is no denying that Sydney is absolutely stunning, with an array of breathtaking views and many rolling beaches to choose from, the only problem we’re faced with is choosing where to go.

If you’re anything like me, I have my favourite spots that I like to frequent time and time again, however there are times when I like to mix it up a bit and try somewhere new on for size. Sydney Social 101 has teamed up with the guys at Rochdale Cider to compile a list of the best spots, just for you!

There are endless options of places to visit, activities to do and drinking holes to scratch that itch, sometimes however I like to take in the great outdoors and enjoy a picnic spread with my nearest and dearest.

After seven years living here in Sydney I thought I’d share my favourite picnic spots with you guys, so take note and see which one floats your boat and try it out for yourself. Don’t forget that no picnic is complete without an ice cold cider selection to wash down the foodie treats, our drink of choice is Rochdale Cider, which is quite simply, cider at its most pure.  It’s made from pure glacial water, by a family-owned company, the McCashin brewery, in Nelson, New Zealand.

Here’s our rundown of the best spots:

Mark’s Park – Bondi

The spot that is famous for being host to Sculptures By The Sea boasts the most incredible ocean views out from Bondi Beach. It’s tranquil and the best spot for a picnic that isn’t too difficult to get to. This is a great spot for a third or fourth date (take note boys!).

Whether a storm is brewing or it’s a stunning sunset, the view will not disappoint. The perfect spot to crack open a cider, Rochdale’s apple flavour boasts a touch of fruity sweetness from the distinctive taste of tree-ripened apples and that classic dry tartness for a smooth finish, enjoy with a loved one and simply take in the view.

Pyrmont Park

Having lived in Pyrmont for six months over the summer in early 2014, I completely fell in love with Pyrmont Park. It’s such a great spot for a picnic as it has tables there ready for use and coin operated gas BBQs to cook and prepare your food whilst taking in the scenery and enjoying your Rochdale cider.

Easily accessible by bus to Pyrmont and by foot, the view is your reward as you’ll be able to see the bridge and harbour. A great spot for NYE too, as you’ll avoid the crowds at Circular Quay, whilst still enjoying a view of the fireworks!

Shelly Beach – Manly

I love to venture to Manly, it always makes me feel like I’m on holiday and taking a proper break! Shelly Beach is no exception and, if anything, makes you feel even more like you’ve escaped Sydney for a while!

We’d recommend taking some snorkel gear and your swimmers to Shelly Beach to work up an appetite before digging into your picnic and rewarding yourself with a cold cider (don’t forget your cool bag! No one likes a warm cider!).

There are so many cool sights to behold under the water at Shelly Beach, a great location for a date that really takes it to the next level.

Kirribilli

This is a great picnic spot at the weekend or in the evening too, stunning views and easily accessible via public transport – Just hop off the train at Milson’s Point and you’re there.

Having worked in Kirribilli a few years ago, this was my favourite spot to get out of the office for an hour and admire the view whilst on my lunch. I used to pinch myself that this was where I actually worked. Every so often my colleagues and I would make a picnic and head here for lunch (especially when the sun was shining!). It’s the perfect place to sneak a cheeky Rochdale Cider to wash lunch down with too!

North Head

This takes a little more grit and determination to get the reward, but boy is it worth it. The amazing views from North Head are simply breathtaking and it is an ideal spot to take a loved one and sit back, enjoy your picnic and cold cider and take in the view. A premium cider for a premium view, there’s no other choice than Rochdale cider for me! Both the Classic Pear Cider and Apple Cider are brewed using Rochdale’s authentic recipe and pure glacial water and are Gluten Free – with No Added Sugar or Preservatives.

I like to take a pizza sometimes instead of a picnic, less effort, all the same satisfaction! Crust half and half with Mexican and Chicken Piri Piri is an endless winner in my eyes!

So that sums up my Top Five picnic spots in Sydney, well worth a look at each of them.

Sydney is a site to behold, so explore, take it all in and don’t for one second take it for granted.
