Ravers Assemble! The set times are now out for our favourite daytime dance event, Electric Gardens. Returning to Sydney’s Centennial Park this Australia Day weekend for the fourth year, it’ll make sure your celebrations go with a bang.

Electric Gardens will explode into your weekend with world-class pyrotechnics and the “largest CO2 canon ever seen in Australia” bringing you a full day of local and international dance acts across four stages. The folks at T1000 events have selected the best DJs and producers spinning house, progressive, trance, techno and drum’n’bass.
Start planning your day around the set times now but be sure to be at the main stage for 8.45pm for Sigma, one of Britain’s biggest electronic music exports in recent years, to headline. Prepare to dance like crazy to the DJ behind huge hits like ‘Nobody To Love’ and ‘Changing’ (featuring Paloma Faith) as they are joined on stage with live vocalists and MCs for a very special performance.
New for this year, and an incredible coup for the EG folks, is the Amnesia Stage, brought to life Down Under direct from the Superclub in Ibiza with all the production and talent that promises. As well as a 3 – yes THREE – hour epic set from Patrick Topping (6.30-9.30pm), the must-see highlight for me is global superstar and Grammy-nominated producer, Paul van Dyk (8-9.30pm). He’s my absolute LEGEND of proper old-school trance (For An Angel was my Y2K anthem), back touring after his awful 2016 accident.
Also unmissable is the smiley, energetic Eric Morrillio (Main Stage, 6.45-8.45pm), platinum-selling artist and Subliminal Records head-honcho whose 2016 Electric Gardens performance would have taken the roof off – if there was a roof.
The largest CO2 canon ever seen in Australia
If you fancy some happy electro-house you can’t go past locals Bag Raiders (Main Stage, 4.30-5.30pm), homeward bound for their first series of live shows after an extended hiatus. With a new album poised for release in 2019, revellers will be able to enjoy a sneak preview of their latest floor-filling offering and celebrate 10 years since ‘Shooting Stars’ catapulted the boys to global stardom. I can’t wait to hear their new material.
Highlights of the set times from the talented cabal of locals include Beth Yen for her first EG Main Stage performance (2-3pm) – she’s a skilled house queen of both stage and studio so look out for her infectious bouncy rhythms. And no Sydney festival would be complete without the Return to Rio stage, especially Tristan Case and Ricky Cooper’s (2-3.30pm) B2B showcase of dreamy, melodic-techno vibes followed by progressive legends Way Out West (3.30-5pm).
Buckle up ravers, it’s going to be hell of a party in the sun.
