One Another Community, a volunteer led kindness platform, which enables members of local communities to both offer and request assistance in a secure, easy to use place is officially live across Australia this week.
To celebrate the launch of the platform, and to help spread kindness across our communities, One Another has today revealed its ‘Notes of Gratitude’ campaign.
Australians are being encouraged to share notes of gratitude, kindness messages and positive affirmations to friends, loves ones, local businesses and even strangers, who have helped put a smile on their faces, despite all that 2020 has thrown at so many of us.
Not just a digital movement, a number of Newtown-based business owners are amongst the first to participate in the ‘One Another Community’ initiative designed to spread acts of kindness as a way to ensure no member of the community feels alone after the impact of COVID.
Sydneysider and single mum Lisa Hollinshead launched One Another Community in March this year and has rallied Team One another to make her vision of helping to spread kindness across our local communities where everyone feels united and supported a reality.
Lisa said: ‘The notes of gratitude campaign is a way to bring our communities together, whilst also connecting friends and loved ones, who have been unable to spend time together this year. I think it’s important that we try to end 2020 on a positive note and recognise and acknowledge those who have been there for us, in an unpresented year.”

Local cafe BARmuda, social enterprise bookstore Parliament on King, sustainability-conscious brewery Young Henry’s and the bustling pay-as-you-feel vegetarian restaurant Lentil As Anything are all involved.
As a way to reinforce community connection, each business has set up a kindness wall where members of the community can leave notes of gratitude. Locals are invited to leave messages of appreciation to their local cafe who always serves coffee with a warm smile or a neighbour who puts out the trash for when they are not feeling well.
Patrons can grab the notes of gratitude from their venues and either write a note and add it to their dedicated kindness walls, or scan the QR code, to add their digital note of gratitude to a growing map of kindness across Australia, and beyond
Social101.com’s founder Lisa Hollinshead set up the One Another Community Platform with the help of over 120 volunteers from around the globe who have developed a mobile app, website and gratitude walls in local neighbourhoods. The idea came to life after she was stranded in Spain in March with her elderly grandmother and toddler during COVID lockdown laws. While she had the support, she realised there were many people, not so fortunate.
Mark Bouris, who recently interviewed Lisa on his The Mentor podcast said: “It’s a very clever idea for a social enterprise and I can see it being really appealing. I think it will do really well.”
