Sydney’s favourite smokehouse and grill celebrated its first birthday last night and Sydney Social 101 was invited along to celebrate. The sun-drenched restaurant was filled with local foodie Manly-siders celebrating the festivities as they looked out onto the stunning harbour, sipping ‘Tequila Brambles’ and Papi’s signature drink ‘The Cravado’ (An almost healthy frozen blend of Vodka, coconut water, lychees, fresh mint and lime – sublime!).
Head chefs Patrick Friesen and Christopher Hogarth put on quite the birthday feast, a foodie’s absolute dream, with a range of stunning snacks and platters, bursting with fantastic ingredients and big flavours:
- Ceviche bar with: Southern rock lobster ceviche with coconut and mango; Isaan style scampi ceviche; Hokkaido scallop with grilled corn and finger lime; yellowfin tuna and hiramasa kingfish sashimi; Hiramasa kingfish ceviche with pineapple and jalapeño
- Carvery with: Smoked suckling pig, Smoked kranskys; Maple black pepper free range pork belly; Rangers valley wagyu f1 brisket; Grass fed shortrib; Kurobuta pulled pork shoulder
- Canapes: Smoked hot wings with comeback sauce; Empanada of wild greens and Heidi raclette; Hashbrowns with Yasa caviar
A birthday wouldn’t be complete without a birthday cake so Papi decided to bring out two! Guests satisfied their sweet teeth with a slice of black velvet and black forest, hand prepared by the head chef himself!
