Rejoice if you love a film festival but don’t want to risk sitting at length at one of the open air movie venues in case the rain decides to make an unwelcome return, for FLiCKERFEST International Short Film Festival is back for its 25th Anniversary!
Kicking off this Friday 8 January at Bondi Beach Pavilion (with the indoor cinema available in case of rain) and running until Sunday 17 January, Flickerfest celebrates 25 years of the most innovative, provocative and wildly entertaining short films the world has to offer.
With 116 shorts in competition across the four Competitive Strands of Australian, International, documentary, and GreenFlicks environmental shorts which includes 19 World Premieres and 60 Australian Premieres, this year’s programme is a vast showcase of the world’s best short films.
FLiCKERFEST is Australia’s only Academy®™ accredited and BAFTA recognised short film festival and all films officially selected are competing for a number of fabulous prizes across all areas of the filmmaking craft including the Academy® Accredited Virgin Australia Award for Best Australian Film, the Canon Award for Best Direction & the Yoram Gross Award for Best Australian Animation.
As well as over 150 short films over 10 days and nights, Flickerfest offers very glam Opening and Closing Night parties to the public and the panormaic Pop Beach Bar for drinks and delicious gourmet food. And for any budding moviemakers out there, don’t miss FlickerLab – a 1 day intensive with industry specialists on directing, writing, producing, marketing and distributing your film.
FLiCKERFEST is fresh, bite-sized global cinema at its very best – the must-attend movie event of the (so-called) summer! What more reason do you need to attend?
