In another week that was on Sydney’s social scene, we attended many a party that left us thirsty for more! Here’s our round up of our ‘Top Picks’ from the week and what you guys can get out of it!
J&M Masterclass
Monday night had Rachel MacDonald from Chivas Regal take us through our Scottish Whisky paces at the newly opened J&M Bar above the Angel Hotel. The new bar is a tribute to the late Mr. John, the ingenious Merivale Hemmes and their multi-level fashion outlet House of Merivale that once stood at the historic hotel. Rachel explained what goes into making Whisky, and let us taste several varieties, including Chivas Regal 18 year old. The highlight of the night was attempting to blend our own Whisky from 6 different whiskies.
These whiskies came from different parts of Scotland, and all had very different flavours. Not all of us managed to make an award winning blend, but it was a great experience to feel and taste what goes into making a top blended whisky. A great venue, and a fantastic host! Definitely stop by to sample the 18 year old!
ACME Dinner
Stoneleigh launched a new masterbrand campaign designed to strengthen the ‘wonder of nature’ proposition in October this year. ‘No. 50’ is an experiential activation designed to build on this proposition and provide a physical brand experience for all participants and boy does it deliver! It brings to life the story of Stoneleigh, its origin, its history and its range of wines. As people enter No.50, it is clear to see nature taking over, creating a true Stoneleigh wonder of nature.
We headed to check out the collaboration between Stoneleigh and Mitch Orr from ACME. We sampled the bespoke canapé menu with lashings of complementary Stoneleigh wine whilst enjoying a wine tasting & tour of the house.
The great news is that you guys can still win two tickets to the closing FBI Party, further details of the competition can be found here.
Moonlight Cinema Launch
It’s no secret that Andrew Boy Charlton Pool is a firm favourite of Sydney Social 101, so it was the perfect setting for the launch of Moonlight Cinema.
The Moonlight Cinema is an absolute must on Sydney’s social calendar and this year there is an absolute stellar line up! We were treated to trailers from each of the blockbusting and independent films that will be shown at the venue whilst sampling the stunning food that will be served at the Moonlight once it’s open (our top pick is the chilli dog!).
As always Moonlight cinema is a BYO friendly event, but no sweat if you forget your picnic spread and sparkling; Moonlight’s famous LA style food truck and fully licensed bar, will be serving up tasty treats for all appetites.
Audiences can tuck into a scrumptious menu of movie munchies including pulled pork sliders, New Yorker chilli cheese dogs, buffalo fried chicken, parmesan truffle fries and fresh Nutella donuts.
Check out the complete write up here for the full schedule.
Blackmore’s Superfood Fair
On Tuesday 17 Blackmores announced the launch of their superfoods Nature Boost range held at the rustic Carriageworks in Eveleigh. Bondi was brought inner city with the Bondi Harvest guys demonstrating the superfoods in action creating a coconut & quinoa Bircher, a zucchini and chimichurri breakfast bowl and banana and Matcha whip.
Guests were then invited to create their own superfoods coyo (coconut yogurt) at the Superfoods Well Being Bar, a serve yourself mecca of health foods.
Yogi extraordinar, Kate Kendall closed the morning with some Vinyasa yoga, leaving us feeling incredibly, Zen.
The beautifully curated event left us in a wellness trance, enough to want to douse every single meal in superfoods!

Spectre at Hoyts
Hoyts in Eastgardens hosted a swanky 007-themed soiree followed by a screening of new Bond flick Spectre to celebrate their relaunch and introduction of their new Power Recliner Seats replacing every seat in every single cinema! (Which means there’s not a bad seat in the house) Hoyts CEO Damian Keogh made everyone feel like a star with an incredible red carpet setup, a star-studded line of guests including chart-toppers Justice Crew and players from the Sydney Kings, canapes and a selection of top-shelf beverages. Including of course, the classic Bond Martini, shaken, not stirred…
In what was truly a world-class cinematic experience, I think we could have been forgiven for drifting off to sleep in those recliners if the movie hadn’t been quite so good – Get down and check it out for yourself, and I think you’ll find it as difficult as we will to go back to a ‘standard’ cinema anytime soon!
Address: Hoyts Eastgardens, 152 Bunnerong Road, Westfield Eastgardens, Pagewood

Australia’s newest theatre company takes a contemporary angle on theatre, reflecting the diversity and complexity of society and in particular Western Sydney. They are ‘putting the nation on the stage’ with their upcoming shows and performances which will appeal to audiences of all calibres.
The Launch was celebrated on 19th November with words from passionate directorate members (Annette Shun Wah, S. G-STAR World Square Flagship Store
The relaunch of G-Star’s World Square Flagship store was held on Thursday, 19th November.
We were graced with a performance by local G-Star gal Asta, performing her hit single Dynamite along with DJ babes, Lazer Gunne Funke. The event had a great turn out, including style influencers Belinda Liana and more!
Focusing on ‘just the product’ the approach has led to many denim ‘firsts’ and the introduction of ‘luxury denim for the streets’. The clothing fuses street style edginess with high level craftsmanship to create their raw denim apparel. With a range of colours, washes and designs they appeal to the masses!

Taste of Shanghai
After a 3 month closure for some serious renovations, CBD favourite Taste of Shanghai has re-opened and is once again serving up the delicious and inspired Chinese flavours we’ve all come to know and love! The World Square hot spot, now with a completely revamped, spacious and sophisticated new look, treated us to a mouthwatering spread of some of their most popular and eye-catching dishes.
According to their glossy new magazine-style menu, (my mouth is watering all over again going through it) their four ‘best buys’ are the Xiao Long Bao, Pan Fried Pork Bun, Pork and Chive Dumpling and Wonton in Red Chilli Oil Sauce, and there were certainly no complaints about that at our table! Some of the other highlights included the Nanjing-Style Salty Duck, Eggplant and Pork Mince in Sweet Chilli Vinegar, and of course, anything involving their home-made noodles..yummmm. The place is always pumping, and with 8 stores all over Sydney, it’s pretty obvious that Taste of Shanghai is one of Sydney’s faves – So make sure you get a group down there soon!
