After undergoing a total refurbishment of both Upstairs and Downstairs, Sydney’s iconic music venue The Basement, held its highly anticipated re-launch event last night. The event was hosted by Channel 7’s Mark Beretta with stellar performances by The Veronicas, Nathaniel, Hoodoo Gurus, Frances Madden, Ophir and DJ Huwston.

The star-studded event saw four hundred and fifty of Sydney’s finest flock to the venue to check out its new look and enjoy six hours of five star quality entertainment.

Being such an iconic location, the debut event presented by Co-Owners Dominique Robinson and David Wallace delivered a unique and highly entertaining star-studded outing in an entirely new context.

“It’s phenomenal to organise an event which captures the imagination of guests of all ages and backgrounds. The Basement has been a Sydney icon for over 40 years and we were delighted to unveil The Basement’s new features, capabilities and look last night. It’s a very challenging task to reinvent an icon without tarnishing its history or foundation, however we feel as though we have successfully done this and the overwhelming feedback from last nights guests, performers, media and the music industry as a whole, has been overwhelming” said Co-Owner Dominique Robinson.

The event attracted an impressive line up of premium sponsors, including Santa Vittoria, Asahi, Hyundai Australia, Veuve Clicquot, Belvedere Vodka, Estate Wines, Everingham Audio, ModelCo, Robinson Legal, Sony Music, Young & Rashleigh and Opera Kitchen.

Guests along with Twentieth Century Fox MD Flavio Paoli, Universal Music MD Michael Taylor, John & Jack Singleton, Jay Lyon, Anne Fulwood, Dr. Katrina Warren, Home and Away favourites Charlie Clausen and Matt Little, Karen Fischer and Mens Style Report Editor Chris Haggerty to name a few, all gathered around the stage for a celebration of one of life’s great pleasures, phenomenal live music in a great and heavily catered atmosphere.

Frances Madden kicked off the evening’s entertainment with a sultry jazz performance, showcasing her unique style and natural charm.

Next to hit the stage was Nathaniel, who had guests mesmorised by his perfect tone, edgy style and captivating demeanour.

Arguably Australia’s favourite twin musical duo, the strikingly beautiful ‘Veronicas’ sisters took to the stage next and it was only a matter of seconds before the dance floor was full. The girls rocked the crowd with an incredible performance and were definitely a crowd favourite.

The evening concluded with a highly energetic and powerful rock performance by the Hoodoo Gurus who got the crowd moving in more ways than imaginable. The Hoodoo’s certainly proved that age has had zero impact on their talent or energy as they tore up the stage much to the crowds delight.

The Basement is officially open after the refurbishment with many exciting international performers already lined up for the 2015.
