Last Thursday, Sydney Social 101 and select VIP guests attended the official launch of Middlebar – a new addition to Darlinghurst, in the former Lo-Fi site.
From 6pm onwards, party goers were greeted and kept well hydrated with the venue’s Cuban – inspired cocktails designed by one of Australia’s leading bartenders Lee Potter Cavanagh.
The warm, earthy tones of the new space were soaked up by VIP Guests James Kerley, Masterchef’s Christina Batista and MTV VJ Krit.
Middlebar’s exciting drinks menu focuses on the make your own Gintonic – featuring different gins, different tonics and multiple seasonal garnishes served in copa glasses to add that European accent. Certainly not short for choice, guests could select from Tanquery and tonic with cucumber and rose or lemon and cinnamon… and if that wasn’t enough – why not make your own.
Circulating the floor were the delicious dumplings from Johnny Wong’s Dumpling Bar. Juicy pork buns, prawn gow gees and roast duck baos.
Venue Manager, David Rozario, fresh from a lengthy stint as bar manager at Sydney’s Baxter Inn had guests staying to tear up the dance floor with his music curation.
Opening to the public as of 5pm tonight, Friday 24 July – Middlebar aims to host sideshows of touring international DJs, to complement a strong line –up of local residents.
Middlebar will be open to the public as of Friday 24 July and onwards from Wednesday – Sunday, 5pm-3am.
