We love a bit of supping by the sea so we’re thrilled that Brand Orange has teamed up with Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel for the fourth year running to bring Sydney a month long run of gourmet activities in celebration of ‘Aussie Wine Month’. One of the highlights is the annual Taste Orange Food & Wine Festival which is back this Sunday the 7th May, in Robertson Park.

The Taste Orange Food & Wine Festival is a great community event and celebration of Australia’s homegrown wineries. Get down to the festival which is open from 11am – 5pm, and immerse yourselves in some of the finest produce from one of Australia’s most prominent cool climate wine regions, Orange, all the while overlooking some of the best views of Sydney Harbour.

Entry to the festival is free (hurray!) and you can purchase pre-packaged tasting  tickets in advance online now, taking the hassle out of queueing on the day. $40 per person offers 10 tasting tokens at $4 each plus, as a bonus for being organised, a free branded glass to use throughout the festival ($5 to purchase on the day).

A variety of Orange wineries are involved in the Festival, showcasing some of their proudest drops, and Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel will offer mouth-watering dishes to accompany from multiple food stalls in the park. Visitors will have the chance to sample the dynamic flavours of Orange and purchase their favourites direct from the suppliers, without having to leave the Bubble!

Wineries on board for this year’s festival include one of my absolute favourites, Tamburlaine Wines, whose organic and bio-dynamic vinos are also naturally low in sulphites meaning those sensitive to additives and chemicals can drink safely and best of all, I’ve found hangovers are pretty much non-existent! Other top tipples include Rowlee Wines, Philip Shaw Wines, Ross Hill Wines, Angullong Wines, Stockmans Ridge Wines, Heifer Station Wines, Slow Wine Co, Logan Wines, Gilbert Family Wines, Small Acres Cyder/Badlands Brewery, Highland Heritage and Cargo Road Wines.

As well as the Festival itself, Taste Orange and Watons Bay Boutique Hotel have a line up of activities including wine masterclasses and a special Orange wine list in venue. We attended the first Wine Masterclass last week and highly recommend it. You are guided through the finest wines from the Orange region with the Hotel’s resident sommelier and enjoy delicious paired canapes too. It’s a great, fun way to learn a little more about your favourites, make new discoveries and enable you to show off some new found knowledge to your friends. It’s a bargain at for $55 per person for 2 hours.

In addition, for those who don’t want the fun to end after – or aren’t quite in a fit state to drive –  a special accommodation package will be offered at Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel, starting from $209 per night, which includes one night stay in Watsons King Room plus a welcome bottle of wine from the Orange Region in the room.
