When many people hear that Fiji is just a short four hour flight from Sydney, they are surprised. In the same time it takes to fly to Perth, you can be on an idyllic island, sipping cocktails and soaking up the sun, sea and sand. Social 101 had the absolute privilege of visiting the stunning resort: Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay. We feel very confident in saying, if you’re looking for a getaway that delivers when it comes to leaving feeling refreshed, recharged and blown away, this is the one!

Marriott Momi Bay Resort and Spa Fiji

Whether travelling with families, friends, or loved ones, the resort caters to all guests’ needs. Fiji Marriott Resort Moni Bay is just a 30 minute journey from the airport, you’re transported very quickly to what feels like your very own island.

Relatively new to the Fiji mainland,  Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay opened in April 2017. It is clear that the resorts unlocked a previously untapped area of Fiji. Nestled on the secluded beaches of Momi Bay on the western corner of Viti Levu, the resort is the only property on the Fiji main island offering overwater villas.

The striking design is centred around a man-made lagoon, offering each and every guest a water view.

We took advantage of the opportunity to swim in the lagoon’s turquoise waters, which honestly feels like the ocean lapping at your feet. You’re literally spoilt for choice with three swimming pools, including an adults only infinity pool overlooking the ocean, which honestly takes your breath away.

Don’t worry however, if swimming isn’t your bag, there is direct access to a sandy, palm-fringed beach overlooking the Pacific Ocean.

The resort features 250 rooms in total, including 114 luxurious Bure Villas and 136 contemporary deluxe rooms. All up there’s a choice of 10 different room types, including the over-water Bure Villas, which are reserved for adults only (read romantic getaway!) and feature a private terrace and direct access to the lagoon; the duplex ocean front  and the deluxe lagoon rooms, many of which interconnect for families or small groups.

We stayed in the lagoon Bure Villa, which had direct access to the white sandy beach and lagoon. Perfect for early morning swims and sandy feet.

A big bonus and a treat for which Fiji is renowned for is the food. Quite honestly you don’t have any need to venture away from the resort! The Fiji Marriott Momi Bay Resort boasts three restaurants, which offer distinctive local and international cuisines, a bar and delicatessen:

Goji Kitchen & Bar:

The Goji Kitchen & Bar is at the heart of the resort and offers all-day dining, focussing on local Fijian, Asian and Indian favourites made with fresh, local produce and bursting with flavour. We had the lavish buffet breakfast here every day and the choices were endless and always pleasing to the palette.

Fish Bar:

We decided to check out the Fiji Marriott Momi Bay Resort’s signature restaurant, Fish Bar for my birthday celebrations! With the stunning sunset over the horizon and outdoor seating on the sandbar, we couldn’t get enough of the fresh seafood, which were lovingly paired with bespoke cocktails.

There are a number of additional dining options to suit your mood at any time of day, and all in a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere. Lagoon House Restaurant & Bar offers classic Mediterranean fare, while the Lagoon Lounge is the heart and soul of the resort.
