Sydney Social 101 was created by Lisa Hollinshead, that’s me!
Who am I?
I arrived in Sydney from Manchester, UK in 2009 and had ZERO clue about what to do in terms of going out, and generally being social. It was a time when the Cross was booming and nights out carried on into the wee hours of the morning. I wanted to create an outlet that provided expats (like me) with a resource of information. Focusing on insight into what was going on in this amazing city, and more importantly, that was worth doing!
Sydney Social 101 was born. A blog for people who are new to Sydney, live in Sydney or those that are thinking about visiting.
This quickly became a full time job, rather than just a hobby. The content for the site moved from focusing on where to eat, drink and party to being more varied. It now includes places to travel, beauty treatments to try and so much more.
Utilising my experience working in PR for some of the world’s leading agencies and brands, I was able to carve out content that I felt resonated with my target audience, without being preachy.
Going Global
The blog now spans Manchester, London and Melbourne and has gone from strength to strength. A massive thanks to our amazing global team, that makes all of this possible!
