Award-winning, family-owned, Australian wine-producers, Millon Wines, have just released Clare’s Secret with a fresh new feel. Their newest estate-based range comprises a collection of wines from the Millon Wines Clare Valley Vineyard and embody balance, elegance and taste that’s true to regionality.
Made by Head Winemaker and rising star, Angus Wardlaw, the 2022 vintage saw plenty of rainfall during winter, which helped to nurture the vines and set up the vineyard for the spring and summer months. The growing season, leading into vintage, saw cooler days and cooler nights compared with previous years, creating a much longer ripening period. The end result was wines with more delicate and elegant flavours, while presenting their various varietal characteristics.
2022 Clare’s Secret Grenache – $20.00
This single vineyard Grenache originates from the Armagh property in the Clare Valley from vines planted in 2001. Aromas of violets and field flowers give way to a palate layered with red fruits and complex savoury notes. An elegant, perfumed wine which is highly versatile, equally enjoyed as an aperitif or as an accompaniment to a wide range of cuisines.
2022 Clare’s Secret Grenache Rosé – $20.00
This elegant Rosé displaying pale pink hues has been made using 100% Grenache grapes from the Millon Wines Clare Valley vineyard. Aromas of wild strawberry and pomegranate with a touch of savoury spice give way to a textural palate of fresh-cut strawberries, delicate citrus notes and a refreshingly crisp finish. It’s elegant, light, dry but beautifully well-rounded.
2021 Clare’s Secret Cabernet Sauvignon – $20.00
This single vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon originates from Millon Wine’s Armagh property in the Clare Valley from vines planted in 1998. Small parcels of fruit are hand selected and picked at optimum ripeness. Exhibiting a complex varietal nose of blackberries, plums and a hint of eucalypt. The palate displays pronounced blackberries and star anise which is rounded out with integrated oak and fine tannins.
2021 Clare’s Secret Shiraz – $20.00
Small parcels of fruit are hand selected and picked at optimum ripeness for this single vineyard Shiraz. The palate is full bodied and loaded with flavour and depth with layers of blackberry, mocha and spice, rounded out with finely integrated oak.
Clare’s Secret can also be purchased in a box of 6 for $108 or a box of 12 for $204.
