In 2015, a new era of Festival of the Sun (FOTSUN) peeks its sunburnt head over the horizon, as the boutique summer festival commences its second decade! FOTSUN, one of Australia’s longest-running music festivals, introduces a plethora of exciting new elements this year, adding to the experience and excitement without sacrificing the relaxed, backyard vibe punters have come to know and love.
Best grab your sunscreen, as the scorching 2015 lineup is overflowing with local talent! If you’ve
got a bib handy, put it on now, so you can spare your keyboard any saliva damage that may result
from reading this combination of familiar favourites and fresh musical talent:
ILLY, Jebediah, Thundamentals, British India, The Delta Riggs, Alpine, Bad//Dreems, Sleep Makes
Waves, Ecca Vandal, Northeast Party House, Harts, Tired Lion, Bootleg Rascal, The Fumes, The
Belligerents, Animaux, Major Leagues, Ivan Ooze, Le Pie and one lucky triple j Unearthed winner!
To help celebrate Year 11, FOTSUN will be introducing Wabi Sabi (roughly translated from Japanese
as “Nothing lasts forever”), an interactive art showcase that will serve as an entrée on the Thursday (December 10) for a limited amount of punters.
For the main, it’s another first for FOTSUN, with live music kicking off at midday on the Friday. These additional band slots mean 2015 will feature the biggest FOTSUN lineup to date! The festival proper will run over both the Friday and Saturday (December 11 –12).
FOTSUN Festival Director Simon Luke says of the changes to 2015’s festival format: “As we entered a
new decade of FOTSUN we wanted our focus to reinforce what everyone loves about the festival, making additions we felt would keep increasing these experiences.”
“Wabi Sabi delivers a visually artistic element, welcoming a range of pop-up workshops, street art,
sand sculpting and food stalls to satisfy any taste. Resident graffiti artist Sigh Luxton will
highlight this portion of the festival. Ultimately, Wabi Sabi allows punters to let out their inner creativity in a fun and relaxed atmosphere.”

best talent Australia has to offer”.
Tickets are available for $190 (+ booking fee) for two nights’ camping and only $35 per person for
Thursday Night Wabi Sabi camping (+ booking fee) (car passes sold separately). For those who prefer
the VIP treatment to setting up a beachside campsite, a limited number of cabins and cottages are
available in conjunction with Sundowner Breakwall Tourist Park.
This year, overnight and ‘day’ Tent City packages will be available, allowing festival goers to be close to the entertainment in a secure precinct.
Free shuttle buses will be running all weekend and include a concierge service, which drops punters
without cars right to their sites.
FOTSUN is an 18+ BYO (yes, STILL BYO!) event, however families are encouraged to attend; children
under 10 receive free entry when accompanied by an adult.
Tickets go on sale Tuesday, September 1, at 10AM, with only 3,000 available, so set your iCal, scribble in your diary and top up your credit card as it’s no secret that tickets for FOTSUN are a hot commodity and will sell out swiftly.
