What can we say, we’re partial to the odd cocktail here at Sydney Social 101 so it goes without saying that margaritas hold a very special place in our hearts!
What better way to celebrate all that is lemon, salt and tequila on National Margarita Day than with a round up of Sydney’s best (in our humble opinion)? May your day / evening by joyous and tasty and margarita-full!
We’re going to start our round up with the lovely Tommy’s Margarita at The Light Brigade sports bar

Marg Crop[1]

LBH’s secret blend of Don Julio Reposado Tequila, Triple Sec, Lime and Sugar Syrup – $18

Seems there’s a lot of Tommy’s about, who are particularly fond of margaritas! Can’t say we blame them tbh! One of our fave foodie haunts, SoCal is absolutely no exception:

You can choose from Tommy’s Margarita, Frozen Margarita and a normal Margarita with a salt rim (main image credit). Top it off with a wee bit of SoCal’s lip smacking cuisines and you’ll be laughing!

The Loft and Cargo Lounge are going to celebrate in style today, so we suggest you crank your Monday up a gear and get involved!

The Loft will be having $10 Margaritas and $5 Tacos from 4pm while Cargo Lounge will have Margaritas done in more than 3 ways from $15!

Saké Restaurant & Bar in The Rocks likes to bring it when it comes to a zesty thirst quencher that encourages you to embrace the wild in your week night:

Margarita 1

This little cheeky number contains: 45ml Herradura Tequila, 15ml Grand Marnier, 30ml fresh lime.

It would be absolute sacrilege to have a margarita guide and not include El Loco!  We love a bit of fire in our cocktails and this is no exception –  If you’re feeling adventurous try the coconut one and a chilli delight! YUM!

If you’re looking to DIY your margarita at home, and may we say “Why the hell not?!” here’s a little suggestion from Sesión as it presents its Tequila Ginger Margarita:

  • 45ml – Sesión Blanco
  • 25ml – Fresh lime juice
  • 10ml – Agave Syrup
  • 1 knob Ginger

Method:

Add all ingredients to a shaker, add lots of ice and shake hard. Strain into an ice filled tumblr and garnish with a knob of candied ginger or slice of lime.

We couldn’t have a cocktail round up and not include Watson’s Bay Hotel, absolutely not! its Grapefruit Margarita is a summery twist on the classic, served with Don Julio tequila, Cointreau & pink grapefruit – YUM! You can enjoy the view of the harbour whilst tantalising your tastebuds with this tasty gem!

Some of our other top picks that pack a punch are:

  • The Anchor – Bondi
  • Beach Burrito – Bondi
  • Stuffed Beaver – Bondi
  • Neighbourhood, Bondi – Barbecued pineapple margarita
  • Since I Left You (lovely barmen too!)
  • Frankies Pizza is amazing for the frozen variety
  • Cantina & Corner Bar – Balmain
  • Manly Mexican – oh yeah!

What you waiting for, grab some ice, get a slice and get supping!
