It’s not often that you walk into a hairdressing salon, especially in Sydney, and feel right at home and in a safe pair of hands. This was absolutely the case when I walked in The Society Salon in Rose Bay. I was fortunate enough to be invited to come for a cut, toner and blow dry with owner, Dre (who is an absolute star!).
From a great consultation, a fantastic beverage list (glass of wine, don’t mind if I do!) and the most relaxing head massage I’ve ever had, they have it all. I was amazed to also hear that Dre and his wife Lauren (co-owners of The Society Group) recently won their very first Aussie hair competition; The Gallery of Style Awards by luxe hair stylist line; Shu Uemura
The competition saw five finalists from across Australia head to Tokyo to see their interpretation of the brief and vision come to life. the five finalists were: Lauren, The Society Salon, Bridget Gay; Chumba Concept Salon, Danny Puopolo; Rakis on Collins, Ellie Martins; Wild Life Hair and Beauty and Adam McIntosh, Oscar Oscar Pacific Fair. Each was pushed to be inspired and tap into their creative minds to create a muse that emulated the Gallery of Style brief.
Lauren was announced as the winner of Sunday June 25, no doubt a night to remember! Her look ‘sound of silence’ was inspired by the fun and playful nature of the Tokyo landscape.

The Shu Uemura Art of Hair Gallery of Style Awards is an annual award that celebrates creativity in hairstyling and specific creative stylists who rise to the challenge and push their experience and inspirations to emulate every aspect that the brief has to offer, from both a technical and a creative perspective.
